top 3 DS9 episodes

Okay..what were your TOP THREE DS9 episodes..good luck, because this was very hard for me to do as well..

#1. The Visitor. I know it is mushy, not much FX going on, but I think it is DS9's finest hour.

#2. The Way of the Warrior. Yes its a two-parter, but it goes a long way in re-introducing DS9. A second pilot if you will.

#3. So many to chose from. My wife loves HIS WAY, I do too. Then there was Beyond the Farthest Star, and oh so many others like A Pale Moonlight. But I settled on Sacrafice of Angels. The FX are great, best of any TREK show; period. Watching those Klingon ships dive out of the sun still gives me shivers.

Okay...make it your top #5. I can't stop there!!!

#4. A Pale Moonlight.

#5. This may come as a surprise? But I go with CHILDREN OF TIME. I love that episode, I love the whole concept. Well done!!!

I didn't list WHAT YOU LEAVE BEHIND because to me it can not be classified. And DUET was great as well..

OKAY...I am done....I better end this post before I keep going and on.....what about Trial and Tribulations...I'm gone!!!

Actually I made up a personal Five Best/Five Worst list some time ago. You're right, it's not very easy to pin that down. However, here are my lists:

DS9'S FIVE BEST

1. »In The Pale Moonlight«
2. »Far Beyond The Stars«
3. »Trials And Tribble-ations«
4. »The Visitor«
5. »Waltz«

DS9'S FIVE WORST

1. »The Muse«
2. »Let He Who Is Without Sin«
3. »Profit & Lace«
4. »The Emperor's New Cloak«
5. »Q-Less«

My top 5:

1. In the Pale Moonlight
2. Improbable Cause/The Die is Cast
3. The Visitor
4. Favor the Bold/Sacrifice of Angels
5. The Wire

Although that was really tough, because episodes like What You Leave Behind, Duet, For the Uniform, The Siege of AR-558, It's Only a Paper Moon, Doctor Bashir, I Presume?, Far Beyond the Stars, The Changing Face of Evil and many, many others are worthy of note as being top-notch.

Re: Top 5 DS9 Episodes

From an Odo fan perspective
- His Way
- Vortex
- The Alternate
- The Begotten
- The Adversary

From a regular Niner perspective
- Emissary
- The Visitor
- It's Only a Paper Moon
- The Homecoming / The Circle / The Siege
- Duet

yes, I agree!. You listed so many good ones, as did the poster before you. It was hard to nail down to three, so I made it five. But even at five it is hard to do. Makes you really squirm on your descision.

It's really hard to put it into just 3. DS9 had dozens of great episodes. I definitely wouldn't put The Visitor or Way of the Warrior or Duet, or Trials & Tribble-ations or many of the other "most popular and famous episodes" in the top 3 though. Not even close.

#1 is In the Pale Moonlight which is outstanding during every single second of the episode. But there are so many other dozens of great ones, that there is no reasonable way to definitively state that they are the top 3.

My top 3 episodes would be (1 as the best)

1. The Visitor
2. In The Pale Moonlight
3. Call To Arms

Pure class

1 The one where Benjamin keeps shifting throught time
As Jakes ages into Worf's brother.

2 The one where they trick the Romulans into joining the
Dominian war.

3 The Baseball one. And I don't even like Baseball, it
was just a cute offbeat episode.

1-Way of the Warrior
2-The Visitor
3-The Die is Cast
4-In the Pale Moonlight
5-Sacrifice of Angels

Bottom
5-Fascination (boy did they name this one wrong)
4-Melora (This episode needed the wheelchair)
3-Move Along Home (Please, please go)
2-The Muse (not amusing)
1-If Wishes Were Horses

It is hard to break it down. I think Call to Arms is easily the best DS9 episode. I thought Trials and Tribble-ations was a nice tribute episode. But I also thought the Circle trilogy, In Purgator's Shadow/By Inferno's Light, the Occupation arc minus Sons and Daughters, and the Final Chapter minus Extreme Measures were the series' best stories.

I really enjoyed them because they had an epic scope, utilized pre-existing Trek elements/dynamics effectively, and reshaped the Trek universe in interesting, surprising yet always believable ways.

My top three chronologically listed:

- Emissary
- The Visitor
- In the Pale Moonlight

There's so many more great episodes that I love to this day that also come close, some of which have already been mentioned here.

1. Duet - Everytime I see this episode, I love it even more. Great performances, and it's so timely to the world in which we live in today

2. The Circle Trilogy - I look forward to watching these episodes each time they come up.

3. The Visitor - Makes me cry every time.

4. In Purgatory's Shadow/By Inferno's Light - Those scenes at the end of IPS make this episode and two parter so very much worth it. I actually consider it the better of the two followups between this and Improbable Cuase/Die is Cast.

5. Far Beyond the Stars - Very emotional and very cool.

1. ITPM - Great high-stakes story, over the top Sisko, Garak, lots of good one liners. I could watch this every day and not get tired of it.

2. Tacking into the Wind

3. In Purgatory's Shadow

There are several episodes I could have picked for #2 and 3.

-Improbable Cause - "You blew up your own shop!" - best line ever.
-In the Pale Moonlight
-Call to Arms

There are so many more I'd like to mention, but as we're limited to three...

With the exception of when Sisko blazes into Garak's shop and sends him flying in ITPM, this is, IMO, the best single scene in DS9. Followed closely by the Garak/Bashir scene in The Wire.

Interesting that Garak is in what are my three favorite scenes in the show....
