Too Hot for Sesame Street?

It seems that this clip which features Elmo and Katy Perry has been pulled from Sesame Street because of complaints it is too hot. So I will be running a simple YES or NO poll to see what people's opinions are.

Here is the clip

I don't see anything wrong with the clip, other than that she could have worn something just slightly less revealing, but unless she starts singing about how she kissed a Muppet and she liked it, I don't see what the problem is.

An old boss of mine (who BTW sucked at his job) was once backstage at a concert. It was a small venue several years back. He had been drinking, and needed to avail himself of the mens room. He stood in line for 30 minutes as a line formed behind him, eventually got impatient, and started knocking on the door. After 15 minutes of pounding, guess who came out (recall it's a mens room)? Yep, Ms. Perry, who promptly give him the stink eye as if he was the one that held everyone up with a 45 minute BM.

Since hearing that story, I really can't view her as attractive, but as some random singer with a lack of fiber in her diet.

Yeah, what are people complaining about? The skirt being too short? I know I'm showing my age, but when I was a kid, most guest stars on Sesame Street had to be shot from the waist up to accommodate the limitations on using the puppets.

I don't have a problem with the dress. When my kids were young I had a little black dress that was as low cut and I wore it in front of my kids. I must admit however that my dress was not as short as Katy's dress.

I don't think Katy's dress is as revealing as Tinker Bell's :)

Is that what Sesame Street looks like now, with the cartoon backgrounds? Weird....

Of course it's not too hot, and they should be ashamed of themselves for caving in to Right-Wing misogynists (or Left-Wing neo-feminists, or whoever's trying to ban women this week).

Kids today are lucky. In my day, I had to use my imagination to see Maria dressed like that. :rommie:

Can't see anything wrong with that. There are more revealing dresses on the average High Street.

Any cleavage on a children's show is a no-no. It might give children the idea that women have boobs.

Personally, I don't think the producers of Sesame Street had any problems with Katy's outfit. They probably were the ones who sought her for the show and fully understood who they were working with. But because there are people who are genuinely offended by the sight of cleavage and think it's inappropriate in general--and even more so for anything to be viewed by young children--the producers decided just to pull the clip rather than deal with any backlash or boycott that might be organized against them, IMO.

I remember an old skit on Sesame Street where The Rockettes were on stage in their fishnets and a big cane would come in a take one away at a time.
Freaked me out.

From what I have seen, Elmo has a regular segment where things happen around him within a cartoony, computer generated background. Other segments still happen on a regular set, outdoors, etc.

Well here's the one I misremembered (no canes taking them away) but this was 30 years ago, I wonder if anyone raised a stink about all the gams.

^ Certainly more revealing in the legs department

As for the OP, that's just a joke. There are no double entendres in the lyrics and KP isn't even that sexy in that clip.

I'm going to go against the consensus on this one and say that the outfit was way too revealing. I mean, Elmo wasn't even wearing anything, and at several points your could see his pubes. It's disgusting. :ack:

Something for the adults and the won't register with the kids?

Listen to the nasty things Sesame Street used to tell kids about!

Video removed, but just going on the picture, I'd say it was a bit too revealing for a kids' show. But imagine the view the puppeteers had! :D

The segment will not air on the television broadcast due to Americans being a bunch of Puritans. It will continue to be available online.
