Maybe because it was a logical inclusion? Are you suggesting they should have never had the D7 as an option? Perhaps you should send TOMY your list of approved models so they don't have to resort to polls in the future.

Because it's an awesome, iconic ship and an obvious counterpart for the TOS Enterprise.
The fact that this campaign clearly didn't meet expectations and might not even reach the lowered goal suggests it shouldn't have been an option, the fans voted with their wallets and the results aren't good.
Maybe I should because the poll clearly didn't lead to success, I could hardly do worse.

I'm not denying it's iconic but looking at the numbers do you think it was the right choice for TOMY to make?
The K't'inga has the same iconic silhouette but is much more detailed, I think it would have done better and it still doesn't look out of place next to the TOS Enterprise.
FWIW I would have played safe and gone with the Reliant or the Ent-D, but I don't think the D7 was a crazy choice. They obviously had market research to back it.
I think the issue is the cost (due to inflation and tariffs) makes the whole package less appealing. Starfleet ships are always an easier sell than aliens, as Eaglemoss's sales indicated.

I'd have picked Reliant as #1, followed by the K't'inga/Qonos One, but it is what it is now...
I agree. I think if it was the price of the TOS E it might meet its original goals.

I can believe people asked for the D7, I also believe many people thought of the K't'inga class when they did. The ships are so similar they blur together in the minds of most people and it is possible when people who asked for the D7 saw the prototype they thought "No, not that one".
I would presume that the people buying these are hard core fans, and not casual ones, and would know the difference between a D7 and the K"t"inga.

It undoubtedly would have done a little better around $500 - although, I still have the feeling it wouldn’t sell more than the TOS Enterprise. Oddly enough, if you’d have asked me before hand I would have said it would probably sell around 2/3 what the TOS Enterprise did, and it seems like it will end up pretty close to that when everything shakes out.
Back when they first announced there were two decos I wondered what the take rate for each would be: as of today the single ship backers are at: two-tone = 583 and grey = 571. So it’s essentially 50:50, which is kind of interesting.
I'd have been a bit more tempted by a Ktinga/Kronos1 than a D7. That's basically the same ship, but with a lot of awesome added detail. Although I still couldn't say it'd be at the top of my priority list.
But $750 and 26 inches are big monetary and space commitments for such a relatively simplistic design, and demand for alien ships is already gonna be naturally lower. The sluggish performance is really not a surprise.
I'm waiting this one out to see what comes next.

Yeah, when they dropped it down it seemed like they placed it at a level they knew it would hit.
Presumably they’ll still need to hit all of their group’s necessary financial goals - so does dropping the price mean a) they intentionally included more margin than they absolutely needed initially, or b) they’ll cut some corners (arguably what occurred with the TOS Enterprise model)? I guess there’s also c) they’ll add cost to the next model to make back some of what was lost with the Klingon ship, but I’d assume that the Klingon model project would need to be treated separately.

They have now extended it another 3 days. It seems to be getting closer to its original goal of $2 mil. This creates two last minute chances where people on the fence jump in at the end. Wonder if this was their "back-up" plan all along in case it didn't take off like the refit campaign?

I'm not a fan of using light-bleed to fake spotlights, but at least they're only doing it in one spot (the back outboard tips of the nacelles). In more positive news, I don't think they'd confirmed the (apparently magnetic) attachment capability of the Surak shuttle before, seemingly to all five airlocks. Going to be good times for people selling 1/350th models of shuttles with round docking ports (the travel pod, the little Surak, the Discovery Class-C, the PIC shuttle...).

We do, regrettably, must inform you that some US & CA consumers shipments have been delayed until after Thanksgiving into early December, but you will get an email before YOUR model is going to ship out to confirm all your shipping information. I'm curious about what the problem could be. It's a pretty bad look to be announcing they're not just delaying shipping, but they won't have a new estimate until three weeks after they were supposed to ship.
