Tom Hanks plugging Star Trek again...

It would be great to see him in a trek movie. I'm not sure of role he would play and I am of the opinion with this alternate universe thing, they should probably work on original stories, or strange twists to very obscure events. I don't think he would overpower the film; only add to it.
He could work as someone who ends up a "villain", but not in the typical vengeful style.
Someone who's doing something that he feels is right, but ends up being something not so good.

How about Tom Hanks as some unassuming Starfleet nobody who just happens to get involved in EVERY major event in Starfleet history?
Or a red shirt.

* He's living on Deneva when that stuff happens
* He gave Carol Marcus the idea for a genesis device. ("Mama always told me that only God could build the Earth in six days")
* He implied to one Federation President that "that nice man" should be allowed to Captain a ship
* He told another Federation President that "Klingons seem like nice folks."
* His girlfriend dies of Rigellian fever and/or Vegan choriomeningitis (it's never actually specified in the film)
