To seek out new life...

Tiberius Jim

My wife and I just had our first of many appointments with her OB-GYN, and finally got a glimpse at what we have dubbed our little shrimp! She is about 11 weeks along and everything looks great. We're looking at a March 30th due date, give or take. This was the first time since we found out she was pregnant that it really seemed real, especially when we could swear we saw him/her swimming around in there, arms and legs moving around.

There's actually some friends and family we haven't told yet as we are crafting the perfect way to announce it, but I'm bursting at the seams to tell people so...here I am! I can't wait to get one of those little baby TNG uniforms and indoctrinate yet another member of the family into being a Trekkie!

Wow, congrats Flux! Best wishes for good health and happiness for you, the mom-to-be, and the little one.

Congratulations. :)

Him/her is simulating zero G. An SF fan already!

"Hailing frequencies open...."

I bet you installed the flux capacitor already,,, congrats.

Congratulations! I'm looking forward to lots of photos when the little Cadet arrives. :)

Thanks everyone!

Nice work!

Time to trade in the motorcycle for a mini-van...

;)

Luckily, I don't think my wife will be making me do that. She's too frugal to let all of the gear and things I've bought for it go to waste. We *will* however be trading my sporty coupe in for something with 4 doors. I made a promise to myself to never own a minivan, and with all of the alternatives available these days that is a promise I intend to keep. :)

Flux, mini-vans are awesome. They drive better then cars, can haul everything you need. They are not the mini-vans of old, the refinement is there and the sliding doors are the best thing.

My wife said the same thing. She's been driving a Honda Odyssey the last 7 years and loves it! Mind you, we didn't go for the minivan until we had two kids and #3 was a possibility. Three kids will *not* fit in a 1994 Nissan Pathfinder!

^Agreed. I was a single man when my nephew and niece came to live with me. I went from Mustang to Mini-van in a flash. It wasn't just those two, but their friends, pizza parties, football practice and Girl Scouts. It was never about 2 children... it was always between 4 and 10 at a time.

You have about 8 years left when a sedan is plenty, Flux. After that, you and your wife will yearn for more seating room.

Congratulations on your upcoming arrival. I'd suggest going with tradition... a TOS uniform! :vulcan:

Yeah, I understand the need for extra seating, but with so many car-based 3 row crossovers on the market these days, it seems like the minivan is no longer the only option for people hauling. I simply don't like the idea of my vehicle resembling a Dust Buster. ;)

In baby news, my wife's first round of tests have come back negative, which is great news. We're about to make our big blanket Facebook reveal after having told all of the closer family members and friends in person. I eagerly anticipate my notifications exploding and can't wait to see the reactions from various people. My wife is also already thinking of names even though we planned on waiting until we know the gender. It's all an exciting process and I keep looking at that sonogram disbelief. Our next appointment is 2 weeks from today so we'll be looking forward to that and hope to find out even more about our little shrimp!
