To me, this 2 minute video is better than anything Alex Kurtzman has done

Bit late to the party on this one aren't you? It's been out for almost a year.
Dude. It's Star Trek. We're all late to the party. Meaning, we're here discussing a show that came out in 1966. Saying anyone is 'a bit late to the party' is kind of silly no? I mean, you'd have to delete 98% of the threads on here with that philosophy.

I shy away from a lot of boards and reddit because you have to be careful how you step around stating your opinion. It's an opinion. I love Star Trek to death. I'm obsessed with it. I passionately dislike modern Trek and what's happening with the franchise. That doesn't mean I like Trek any less or more than anyone else and it shouldn't offend.

So you just go around stoking fires with new people?
Not at all. I'm demonstrating that "good" Trek is subjective.

In my opinion, ST 2009 is one of the best Trek films out there, and Discovery has an incredible demonstration of the growth humans are capable of.

Each of us values different things on Trek. I'd be hard pressed to say a two minute clip is better than anything produced in the three films, and 4 shows over the last 10+ years.

Competition is pointless. I'd rather hear why the scene speaks so deeply to you.

Agreed.

But there is a way to do it without getting people’s hackles up.
He merely said that it was his personal opinion that one thing was better than the others. I completely agree with you in general on this, but there's also being way too sensitive in the other direction. If someone says they don't like something you do like, it's not necessarily a personal attack.
