Re: TNG: The Persistence of Memory by David Mack Review Thread (Spoile

I'll just tell y'all right now: Anyone who hasn't read Jeff Lang's TNG novel Immortal Coil should get their hands on a copy ASAP and read it before diving into the Cold Equations trilogy. I do my best to recap the important details from IC in the trilogy, but the entire trilogy is a direct sequel to Immortal Coil.

You have been duly advised. :)

Excellent!

I know there have been several posters clamouring for a sequel to that one for some time. :) As for myself, I'm pleased by any story rich in continuity references, as I'm sure most everyone knows.

I'm very curious to find out how the book's treatment of B-4 will compare to my thoughts on the matter ...

Good to know. I'll add Immortal Coil to my (already huge) list. I've been working on a huge "catch up on Treklit" project, so it's going to take me a while, but I promise I'll get to Cold Equations eventually!

Please tell me Rhea McAdams comes back. I loved the character, and was really disappointing she hasn't come back.

Thought so! Looking forward to this. Good preview.

Oh, wow.

Very good. Very very good.

I wish I'd read Immortal Coil.

So, has it been determined that Worf can never know enduring love? Ivanova's having better luck than him. Poor Choudhury.

That spoiler bit there doesn't sound good.

Thank you David for your advice :techman:
I just ordered Immortal Coil to be able to read it before your book.
And, if I may, is it only for this one or are there other books to consider reading before your next books ? (If so it will enable me to read/buy the needed books) :p

Re: TNG: The Persistence of Memory by David Mack Review Thread (Spoile

^ Hugh — It'll help if you've read the Destiny trilogy and are generally familiar with the story developments in the Typhon Pact books.

Re: TNG: The Persistence of Memory by David Mack Review Thread (Spoile

Just ordered Immortal Coil myself. I'd missed a few until Destiny came out and have been (slowly) catching up with some of the older stuff too.

I'm just wondering now whether to wait till all three are out and read them (and Immortal coil) in one go or as they come.

Re: TNG: The Persistence of Memory by David Mack Review Thread (Spoile

Thanks David, in fact, I have read Destiny in2008 when they came out ... And enjoyed them a lot ;)

Will it be impossible to read this trilogy without Immortal Coil??

Of course not, any more than it's impossible to watch "The Cage" without having seen the battle on Rigel VII. You're filled in on what you need to know. But Immortal Coil is certainly worth having as a companion piece to the trilogy.

Re: TNG: The Persistence of Memory by David Mack Review Thread (Spoile

^ What Christopher said. You can read my Cold Equations trilogy without having read Immortal Coil, as I recap the important details in the text, but I think it will resonate more profoundly for those who have read Jeff's novel.

Re: TNG: The Persistence of Memory by David Mack Review Thread (Spoile

Without giving the game away, I'm interested to know why it's a sequel to that novel? Was it interest on your part or an editorial suggestion? Or did the current trilogy come first and then realised aspects fit and made it a sequel (if that makes sense)?
