TNG new line of Reaction figures

Son of Mogh...

The Season One Wesley deliberately so. His Galoob prototype never went past ten carded production samples.

The Galoob shout-out is the only reason why anyone would make a Season 1 Wesley. I think it's hilarious and I'm glad I own it.

Prediction is that the next wave of six figures will include a Romulan for the same reason.

Here's hoping! Desperately need a Romulan.

Someone on another site linked to a video of the head honcho for Super7. He seems like he's a huge TNG fan and has big plans for the line. So I hope the first wave sells well enough that we can get that second and third wave!

He also said each wave would include a Borg, which I can only assume means Locutus is on deck for Wave 2 and maybe Hugh for Wave 3.

I don't understand why toy licensees keep using the same design eras, in this case season 3+ uniforms. I mean I do understand because it's the most recognizable look, but it means that if you have some action figures from the past (Playmates) or present (Mego), you'd end up here with another S3 Data, S3 Picard, S3 Worf, a generic Borg... and if you've been collecting, you will have a Guinan too. The Wesley I like for this exact reason: to my knowledge, after the unreleased S1 Galoob, there has never been a Wesley action figure in this first season design. I appreciate that. But they might as well have gone all season 1 with the looks. Might've made the line look more cohesive.

It is good that they fill in the gaps of figure ideas
I'm sorry, I don't understand...

Galoob had announced a Wesley and a Romulan for their 3.75" Wave 3 (1989), but only ten production samples of each were made. So the new ReAction has Wesley in their first wave and, presumably, the Romulan in their next wave.

Then no Guinan or Borg, as only Season One.

Yeah, that is a HARD pass on the Season 1 (or 2) versions. Nooooo thank you.

Reasons:

Season 1 was friggin' horrible (Season 2 only a little better.)
The later season uniforms just look better
All the characters (except for haircut differences & Troi variants) look the same through 3-7, so we're not "dating" the figures to a tinier timeframe
Galoob already made season 1 figures decades ago, buy those instead

Etc.

Who cares that Wesley doesn't fit. The S1 Wesley is pretty much a cheeky reference to Galoob and I'm for it, but I don't give a crap that he's "out of time" with the other figures.

These figures are the iconic, "main" versions of the characters the way we remember them - at their best. Can't wait for the next wave!

Gotcha. Yes, I'm delighted to get Wesley and I desperately hope a Romulan is in the next wave.

You'd be limited to some pretty awful choices if you stuck to season 1. Ugh, that would be terrible!

My suggestions for wave 2:

Riker
Dr. Crusher
Locutus (the Super7 boss said there would be a Borg in every wave.)
Romulan/Tomolak
Q (standard Starfleet uniform, please, no Judge's robes.)
Klingon/Gowron

Wave 3:
Troi (duty uniform)
LaForge (gotta spread out the main characters, otherwise I'd move these two up)
Hugh
Ensign Ro
Ferengi
Lore or Worf in Klingon uniform

For the sake of variety, hopefully they make a lot of aliens who only appeared one time, like the Antedian dignitary played by Mick Fleetwood.

That would be great, but who knows how long this line will run. TOS didn't get all that far.

I'd prefer they get to the essentials first. But, then again, you can't then release a wave of JUST random one-offs, there would need to be some core representation in each wave. So it'll be an interesting balancing act to be sure.

I actually think it was a good choice not to give us Chekhov in TOS right away and instead give us the Gorn and Vina to make the line more interesting. But, that left us without Chekhov at all when the line was summarily cancelled.

TOS had two waves. The guy at ReAction/Super 7 is a huge TNG fan, hence he wanted his (not-Galoob) Wesley.

Chekov is fairly easy to customise, though. Mine is even left-handed!:

Yes, TOS had 2 waves of four figures. TNG already has six in the first wave. I'd love it if we got two more waves (anything beyond that is almost too much to hope for given how these things go.)

I'm glad we got the Wesley, even though if you'd asked me on paper to list all the TNG figures I wanted, S1 Wesley wouldn't even rate. But now that he's here, I'm delighted.

Great customs! Thanks for sharing!!

Speaking of customs and Wesley, I am considering getting an extra Picard body and just customizing "Full Ensign" Wesley. We'll see....

Strange how we never get Wesley in the season 2/3 acting ensign costume, which I think is his best look.
