TNG Movies on Blu-ray

I may be entirely wrong, but I'm sure I read somewhere that TNG was shot on film and then transfered onto video for editing/vis-effects. So the problem with making a hi-def release is all down to the effort in re-doing the effects, which are obviously more complex than TOS-R.
No, redoing the FX is the easy part. No edited episode exists on film. The completed episodes only exist on videotape. The raw footage is all there on film, sure, as far as we know, but we're talking about takes that were used, alternate takes that weren't used, etc. Seven years worth of episodes have to be edited together again almost from scratch. It took them seven years to do this the first time. Timecode may make it easier, but it's still going to be a far more daunting challenge than it was with the original Star Trek.

I wasn't blown away by most of the ST films (both TOS + TNG) on Blu-ray. While they are clearly better than the dvd's they aren't as good (with a couple of exceptions) as many other comparable catalog releases I have seen.

On the other hand Star Trek09 and TOS are absolutely spectacular on Blu-ray.

^ Now see I really liked TNG bluerays! I got them last friday night at BestBuy. I have watched Generations and FC and I thought they were beautiful. I like the extras disc too. The farwell to The Experience featurette was a wonderful surprise. I really miss April and everyone and the attraction so much! The featurette made me cry! I also enjoyed the featurette the evolution of the enterprise. The refit and the "A" look real good in that extra. I am so glad they did not include the JJprise in that!

'Star Trek' is hands down one of the best blu-rays I've seen, if not the best. TOS looks fantastic, far better than you'd ever hope or expect for a show that old.

The TNG films look better than the TOS films, but that's likely due to the fact that they're much younger. But I'll agree, there are other catalog releases that look better. The blu-ray for '2001: A Space Odyssey' for example, is phenomenal.

Are the Blu-ray releases different cuts? Because I watched Generations just now and I could swear that some of the lines and visual shots weren't in it the last time I watched it on DVD.

"I don't propose to spend the rest of my life
on this ball of dust, arguing your fantasies."

All are the exact same cuts.
