No, I think she was a bridge officer already, just not qualified for command of the bridge until the S7 episode.

Who was it? I don't remember either. Wasn't it Riker, Data, and Worf who intially beamed over? Must have been one of them.

I'm sure it was Riker. He led the first away team to board a Borg vessel in Q Who, and when they came across the Borg, they ignord them. So I vaguely recall he supposes that as long as they don't see someone as a threat, they just ignore them.

I'll go ahead and ask another question, and see if anyone can positively confirm my answer. What was Riker's rank before he became first officer of Enterprise?
