Game TNG Episode Pitch Game

  • Thread starter Laura Cynthia Chambers
  • Start date
I'll let it pass, though technically TNG ended in 1994 and ENT began in 2001, because you could substitute some other warrior culture and it's still a good episode idea.

"Midnight": The crew of Enterprise-D head to the planet Graudwa II to repair the damage caused to the planet by a Starfleet research team whose experiments blotted out the planet's primary from the sky forty years ago. What they find is a society that has adapted to the darkness and fears the light, to the point that they will kill to preserve the status quo. Should some mistakes remain as they are? Meanwhile, Wesley is assigned to the night shift, and learns that his supervisor is encouraging crewmembers under her to cut corners.

Sweet to the Soul

During another visit to the Enterprise, Lwaxana Troi confesses to Deanna that she's contracted a degenerative brain disease. In order to spare Dr. Crusher's team the time necessary to work out a cure, Dr. Selar offers to mind meld with the Betazoid ambassador, to aid her mind from suffering permanent damage.

However, the ongoing side effect of sharing minds with the overly passionate elder Troi, is that Selar begins developing romantic feelings, for of all people... Mr. Data, who again faces the development of another crew member expressing interest in him. While hesitant at first, because Selar might not be acting 100% as herself, by the end, once she & Lwaxana have been returned to normal, she confesses to Data that she was always interested in him, and this event only caused her to pursue it more proactively, resulting in them having a 1st date in Ten Forward

Only The Bold To Go

"Only The Bold To Go" - While preparing to go on his first mission, Kinmal, a young Panobian cadet in the Panob space program, takes courage from a lost log recorded by Wesley Crusher that the cadet found on a data chip which was in a collection of junk he purchased from a scrap trader. The log tells a story of the Enterprise-D's away mission to Emvok III in pursuit of a creature that stalks its prey using mimicry, camouflage, and terror.

Evensong

The Enterprise-D conducts a study on a nebula in the currently uninhabited Trion system, but strange, curiously regular beams of electromagnetic particles interfere with their scans. They investigate further, and learn that the particles originate from a device somewhere inside the nebula. The device, on closer inspection, seems to be a decrepit, pre-warp space probe, designed to emit these particles constantly, with seemingly no purpose. Meanwhile, Data participates in a concert given by members of the crew, and wonders at the unifying power of music.

Picard uses his knowledge of archeology and the ship's sensors to analyse the beacon, and comes to the conclusion that the beacon is millions of years old, while Data enlists Troi's help in discovering what, exactly, it is about music that brings people together. Geordi and Data believe that the electromagnetic particles were intended as a form of communication, but due to the ion interference in the nebula, they're unable to decode its message. But with no other civilization present in this system, who placed this probe here, and why?

They discover that the probe was deployed by a long-dead alien race who used to live in the Trion system, in an attempt to find and communicate with any life that might be out there with them in the universe. The ancient race must've been one of the earliest species to develop into a sophisticated society and achieve spaceflight, but unfortunately, due to this fact, they were too early to find another species with the ability to detect or reply to their message. Instead, they died out without ever meeting another species like them, but their probe continued broadcasting their message, and their search to find another, similar soul in the universe lived on.

Picard has a Moment™ and gives a speech about the importance of discovery and scientific exploration. The ship catalogues the find, and sends a report back to Starfleet. They leave the probe as it is, calling out to the rest of the universe.

Next episode: Precipice

"Precipice": A series of cliffs and canyons cover the landscape of Ashadili, where a Starfleet archaeological team is under attack and hiding from the Koul, an organization of tomb-raiders and pirates. Picard and Salvatore, the only Enterprise-D crew who have ever been to Ashadili, have to climb the same cliffs they scaled 25 years ago to locate the team deep in the rocks, where neither transporters or comms work. They recall their time there as much younger crew, having worked together to unearth the tomb of a tribal leader, whom Salvatore became obsessed with. Picard worries his friend's obsession with treasure may put the imperilled team and their own lives in danger. Meanwhile, a support team of crew members holds off the pirates.

Conclave Pts 1&2

Following the neural parasite infiltration conspiracy that had overtaken the Federation, Captain Picard & his crew begin contacting as many high ranking personnel, known personally to them, as they can manage, seeing fit to test each one for their authenticity. Using the desolate planet Omicron Theta as a secret headquartered location, to arrange a massive convergence of verified Starfleet command officers and their crews, Picard's ship & crew act as a centerpiece in arranging a task force & armada, that's goal is to retake all the still compromised areas of Starfleet, The Federation, and any similarly affected worlds, being controlled by the similar host beings, that occupy key persons, in the same way Remmick had been so on Earth.

Picards investigation team, headed by Mr Data, is tasked with identifying those key persons likeliest to have been overtaken as hosts, so to coordinate each cell's takedown, while Picard and Riker work on the continuous demand to subdue fellow starships that have been compromised, with the least amount of casualties as possible. The gargantuan task, taking several months, proves both exhausting & nearly devastating for not only our heroes, but their fleet, and the ultimately decimated whole of Starfleet.

The Culmination of a Dream

"The Culmination of a Dream": Data is offered the chance to have human life by an alien race that transfers the consciousness of prisoners into inanimate objects, where they can't do harm to anyone - they will give him the body of a man who insists he has been wrongly accused of murder, while the poor man will be trapped in an easily destroyable vessel. Meanwhile, Deanna is troubled when she finally does something she's always wanted to do and finds it underwhelming.

Next episode: "Mitosis"

 Mitosis

The Enterprise rescues a stranded alien shuttle with only one occupant on board who seems to be going through a medical emergency and is totally unconscious. While Crusher tries to figure out a treatment, she realizes every cell in the beings body is duplicating at an astounding rate with incredible metabolic energy being used. Unable to find any compatible nutrients the alien will accept they can only deliver water and overnight the alien dies but produces an exact copy of itself, completely genetically identical but with no ability to speak or perform basic tasks.

The Enterprise crew, mostly Data, Geordi, Riker and Crusher take turns helping the alien to locomote, eat (Crusher eventually synthesizes a protein that works) and even speak, sort of like teaching a grown baby. Riker helps by showing it athletics and coordination while Data does the mental/social stuff along with Geordi. The alien develops very quickly and learns at an astonishing rate becoming a fully functional adult by the end of the episode and eventually is reunited with its own kind who thanks the crew for rescuing her and inquires about the "parent" who they learn didnt make it. They explain its their reproductive process, Mitosis, and that usually the mother survives to teach her replacement and guide her through the early stages before the replacement assumes her place.

B plot would center around Worf and Alexander's troubled relationship with Worf realizing he isnt training his replacement but that he has to accept Alexander for who he is and do his best as a parent.

Next Episode: Unforgiven

"Unforgiven": Picard must fight for the lives of his crew when the Rordian monarch sentences an Enterprise-D away team to death as proxies for the humans who killed a group of Rordian children years ago upon first contact by spreading a disease they didn't know they carried. Among the dead were the queen's only daughter; among the away team is Wesley, who is to be the first one killed if Picard can't convince her to forgive them for someone else's "crimes".

Aftertaste

Ensign Ro is confronted by an admiral, who was her former commanding officer aboard the Wellington, who to this day still believes she should never have been reinstated to Starfleet, and refuses to allow her to serve during the mission he's brought to Picard's Enterprise, even though Picard is adamant that she is the best person to make use of, in this latest entanglement with the Cardassians. As events unfold, more is learned about the tragic events on Garon II, which caused Ro to disobey his orders (which now appear suspicious) and take matters into her own hands, during a precarious mission that also involved the Cardassians, in a plot that is still relevant to their current mission.

In a side story, Data finds out that because of his lifelong blindness, Geordi's other senses are slightly enhanced, or better trained than an average human's, when Riker prepares another unsuccessful meal for his mates, and Geordi has the strongest reaction to it. Consumed by the realization, Data attempts to experiment with deactivating his own senses to see if his others become better, with comically unsuccessful results

Datalog

"Datalog": While doing a systems update, Data comes across files from his "childhood diaries" so to speak, and uses them to create a hologram of his early self to interact with, in order to understand how far he has come since those days. He is inspired after the ship's school has an "A is for Android" day and invites him to talk about what it's like - all the kids ask him about his childhood and he doesn't know what to say. A little girl who is recovering from long-term amnesia following an accident two months ago is sad because she doesn't know anything about herself.

Stage Fright

In a strange similarity to the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, a world thought locked in place, which Starfleet has been studying from afar has started moving and can now no longer be observed, for unknown reasons. Picard & crew have been sent to investigate.

Meanwhile, Mr. Barclay has continued to expand his social practices by being in another of Beverly Crusher's theater pieces, but it is uncharacteristically Commander Riker who is struggling the most with the play, that he too is also performing in. The play, The Mutiny on The Bounty, & his part, the mutineer Fletcher Christian, to Mr. Barclay's Captain Bligh. The subject matter is hitting a bit too close to Riker's own mutiny history aboard the Pegasus, & he has some difficulties with it, that has him exploring it with Counselor Troi.

"The Dawn of Man, Kind": A leftover from TOS/Phase II, this one: Riker and an away team investigate the discovery of 20th century Earth technology on the planet Aminus IV, where they find a woman holed up in the experimental space craft, in hiding from the monsters who roam the planet's surface. Unbeknownst to our away team, these are her fellow crew members, who all ventured out into the wilderness one at a time and were changed by it...however, they claim she was the monster and they left to escape her. Who is telling the truth, and what will become of the away team as they become separated on the planet in a storm?

The Summoning, Parts 1&2

After having assimilated teams of Federation starship designers, from a Daystrom Institute outpost, the Borg have gained enough knowledge of Federation Starships that they become able to remotely access every ship in the fleet, redirecting them all to Borg space, where they can be assimilated, without a battle engagement.

The only ships that manage to evade this mass hijacking are The Enterprise, (because Mr. Data is able to use his earlier experience hacking the collective to regain control of the ship) and the technologically outdated Starship Bozeman, that's systems are sufficiently outdated enough to have not succumb to the Borg's hacking.

Both captains Picard & Bateson are tasked with disrupting the signal that is controlling every other ship, before the majority of Starfleet's fleet is lost to the Borg.

In order to do so, he'll destroy the first sign of intelligent life his people have ever seen. Which coincidentally is a damaged cargo carrier hauling materials that if destroyed over the planet, could spell disaster.

It's up for the Enterprise, the closest ship available, to asses the damage, aid the ship in need, and keep the Prime Directive from being shattered.

Some of Q's complicated history with Guinan finally comes to light, as it's revealed that at one time, even Q had illegally cavorted among El-Aurians, and Guinan's power over him is the knowledge that he too has offspring with an El-Aurian.

Can Dr. Crusher devise a medical solution while having to go about as Mr. Data, or her son Wesley? Will Riker survive as Barclay, or Ensign Ro be alright being stuck as Geordi:guffaw:
