Also, the line was still a bit conservative at that time. Had we done the book as little as two years later, we probably would've just gone with "Star Trek: Ambassador Worf" or some such, but this was still when the books were in the death throes of being numbered and everything had to fit into a box......
It probably could have been a Gorkon novel as well. Well if you could see the future anyway ;)
 
I see it as the backdoor pilot for IKS Gorkon, sort of like "Assignment: Earth."
Yeah I was glad I read it before starting the Gorkon books. But that's probably a good analogy.

At first I didn't realize it was a pre Gorkon book so it worked out well for me

I haven't read that one, but I did just skim through a sample on my tablet, and that is exactly what I'm talking about. That kind of thing drives me insane.

“The Laertian Gamble” is probably the Trek book with the most Chapters——72! In about 250 pages!
