TMP or Abram's Enterprise, which design is better?

its lines and curves are aesthetically more pleasing compared to the old TMP Enterprise, with it's clunky nacelles & neck and unrealistic shapes.
To quote myself: "every design is rooted in it's era of origin, no matter the attempt to be "futuristic." Look at the nacelle struts in TMP refit- at the time it was the cat's whiskers, now, looking back, the RIDICULOUSLY severe slant backward combined with the rather tiny connection to the secondary hull just *reeks* of aerodynamic late-seventies cool, IMO anyway. Not that that's bad, just placeable in time of conception. "
I *like* the somewhat hard to place look of the new girl. Well, hard to place at this moment.:vulcan::rommie:

I just can't imagine a world where this:

is considered a better design than this:

I even picked the most flattering shot of the new-Enterprise and an unflattering shot of the refit (okay, A), and the refit still comes out on top. The nacelles on the new one are horrible and look like they're going to fall off because of how they slant (slant!) back.

Not better by me, just different. MY perfect Enterprise would combine the best elements from TOS, TMP & JJ's'Prise. I like the new nacelles & deflector dish. I like TMP's primary & secondary hull design. And I like TOS paint job & straight nacelle struts.
But we gets what we gets- your only decision is whether to buy the toy of it or not.:rommie:

(And I did buy the new one, heh)

No you didn't.
Even among those who like the new Enterprise, that is considered the most unflattering shot. Ever since it first appeared online a long time ago.

I like both designs.
I feel no desire, no need to pick one over the other or any desire to convince anyone else that their choice is wrong

Yeah, that was the first shot I ever saw before viewing the movie, and I thought it was horrendous. Plus the shuttle in the foreground mucks it up even worse.

Well where's the fun in that?

REFIT RULES, FUGLYPRISE DROOLS!!!

Personally, and this is just my own opinion, I don't really see the difference. What the Nacelles are a little fatter around? Big whoop. It's the same ship.

And why does a starship need to be sleek with "nice lines" anyway? there's no atmosphere...drag isn't a problem.

Yikes... that's a particularly bad rendition of the E-E. Since when was she caramel-colored? And I'm pretty sure the nacelle struts didn't stick straight out horizontally... I guess that could be perspective. In general, I agree though...

I think the E-E would be quite pretty if the surface wasn't so 'busy', with lines, relief, etc. The basic lines are good, she just needs some buffing and waxing.

Similarly, that weird unfinished-looking section on the front of Voyager's primary hull always bugged me. What was that all about?

Edit: Found the apparent inspiration for that image:

Exact same perspective, just angled somewhat.

If the TMP Enterprise is unrealistic, then the NuEnterprise pees on reality, dances on it, and laughs. The saucer and engineering hull can't seem to agree what size the ship is, for cryin out loud!

But at least it isn't the Enterprise-ChunkE

The Enterprise-E is a sexy woman covered in LEGO bricks. The overall form is pleasing, but the surface look leaves much to be desired.
