WTF? Wait, wait, I KNOW you're not getting angry over a video game discussion. No, this is just to damn silly.
I played the game by myself. I don't play online. It's not my thing. I also make a habit out of going into the options menu and changing the difficulty to something reasonable. If playing on easy is your thing, hey, that's all you, buddy.
I'm just making a point.
As I said, stop playing on EASY and stop using the web to cheat. There were no online FAQs when Turtles in Time originally came out. I don't think so, anyway.
Guys, guys... what would Splinter say in face of such disagreement?
Who's getting angry? You're the one saying we're a bunch of cheats...![]()
I've been playing video games for over 30 years. I've played every beat-em-up from Bad Dudes to River City Ransom to Double Dragon, Final Fight and Street of Rage and everything in between.
Your argument is that it's a long game because you apparently suck at video games and it took you a long time to play it through the first time. Too bad for you, but don't call us liars and cheats! I can take a simple game like that and beat it to death on any difficulty you care to throw at me.
Pretty much all of those games are the same, and even some of the same techniques can be used in most of them. For example, if you move your character directly up or down into an enemy and start beating on them they cant punch you back. Drop kick fast moving enemies and enemies that jump a lot or have ranged attacks. If food/energy drops on the ground, don't pick it up right away if you don't need it. And a lot of pattern memorization.
Well, there were players guides to various games, but that would be highly unnecessary for this game. That being said, you only have to play it a handful of times before you start to remember what you're about to face and how to beat it. The game does get very easy to beat.
BTW, I mentioned the idea of beating the game in a half hour to my brother. His response? "Yeah, if you're slow."

My 4-year-old daughter knows how to use a computer better than some middle-aged adults. So what’s you’re point? She had access to information that they didn’t. Again, hindsight.
I can't believe I'm having a heated debate about an old beat 'em up game. I love this site!

What does using a computer have to do with what I said?![]()
So now the question is: Why did you bother posting at all then?Don't have X-Box.
I’m downplaying your charge that it’s short by showing you how some long games can be rendered short, using various methods all involving prior knowledge. Some of us who are actually skilled at playing video games like to play on the more difficult levels. If you like playing on easy, hey, that’s fine.

You keep saying this, but I don't know where you got it from. You seem to believe that because others seem to find a game easier than you do it must be because we read walkthroughs and played it on the easiest difficulty level. When I get a new game, I usually play it on the hardest difficulty level I can. If the game is worth playing again, and if a new difficulty level opens up, I'll play it again doing that. The simple fact is, with simple games like these once you play them a handful of times they are very easy to complete, even the first or second time through. Even back then. Compared to games that take hours and hours to play even on repeat, or games that you never fully master and are always a pain in the butt, I would say that YES, that makes this game easy.
The entire genre was designed around being able to stand in front of a machine giving you a quick adrenaline blast for 45 minutes or less while you pumped in quarter after quarter every time you died. If they were too long no one would put as much money into them.
I am not disparaging the beat-em-up genre as it has always been one of my favourites, but it has never been one of the most difficult to master. Always one of the easiest. And as I said most of the strategies you employ in one game can be used in others. And if you are predicating your argument on the belief that we only find them easy because we've played them a few times, I don't know how to respond to that really. Pretty much every game takes a bit of adjustment to for the first little while, doesn't automatically mean it's "hard".
And this is not a "heated debate", this is a discussion board. If you want a heated debate, come to TNZ.You were the first one to say that people were getting worked up. Why did you start a discussion thread if you didn't want to discuss the topic? Were you expecting twenty people to just pop in and say "Great!" and leave?

I just wanted to make a point regarding your complaint. The game's graphics were redone for nostalgia, and yet there are reviewers all over the place complaining about how short it is as if it's a new game. It's over a decade old game that most of us loved playing, when it first came out. Why all the hate? What do they expect? Halo?
It's a fun beat-um-up that lasts as long as it should. Do you really want to play a side-scrolling button-smasher for 40-some odd hours?
What you are doing is making one of the most frequent errors people make when having discussions with those they do not know: the only thing you really read in all of my posts was "game....short....easy". You then proceeded to block out everything else I said so that you could lump my opinion in with these online reviewers that you apparently have a problem with.
That doesn't mean you nor I aren't allowed to like it; don't take critics so seriously when you disagree with them.
In any case, this isn't about the game anymore, this thread is starting to become about you, so see ya later...

Luminus, what are you talking about? Are you having a conversation with someone who I can't see? I'm not complaining how short it is, I never mentioned reviews or reviewers, I said it was a fun game that is short by design and geared toward a quick blast.

Both of you can stop. Now. If you don't have a comment about this Turtle game say nothing. Reading the two of you go back and forth with each other has gotten rather tiresome. If you have anything further to say to one another do so privately. What you are doing is making one of the most frequent errors people make when having discussions with those they do not know: the only thing you really read in all of my posts was "game....short....easy". Yeah, that's true. My apologies.

I never said you couldn't like the game.
