I don't think I've ever seen her in anything, but it's awesome that they're casting a person with disabilities. I wonder if they'll work her missing leg into their version of Barbara?

Last season, they cast deaf actor Chella Man as Jericho, who's mute. So casting an actor with a disability doesn't necessarily mean the character will have the same one. Still, it's possible. It would certainly be a different take on how the Joker injured her, but the further removed it is from the problematical Killing Joke version, the better.

It's the first live-action adaptation to feature any Robin other than Dick Grayson (unless you count "Robin John Blake" from The Dark Knight Rises). The 2002 Birds of Prey name-dropped Dick, Jason, and Tim once, but none of them appeared.

Well, this is unexpected. I didn't think we'd get Tim Drake so soon, but I guess they might emulate the comics and not have him become Robin for a while. I'm happy, as Tim's my favorite Robin.

I checked the actor, and I approve of the casting. Jay Lycurgo hasn't been in much, but there's a short film, "Brothers", released on YouTube late last year with him in the starring role as Jase. Now, for certain people around here, I want to stress that he is an actor who is playing a character, so what we see in this short is not his take on Tim Drake.

So I've seen people online freaking out that Tim is apparently going to be mixed race in Titans. I've seen other people freaking out that if they wanted to use "the diverse Robin" they should have used Duke Thomas.

And here I am, just happy to see Tim Drake getting used in a live action adaptation. Titans hasn't been my favorite program by a long shot, I think it's a deeply flawed show with some real, serious problems. But it has taken both Dick and Jason seriously, if not necessarily treated them both well. I hope they show the same love and respect to Tim, in which case I will be thrilled.

For context, Tim Drake is my all time favorite DC character. He's my gateway to DC comics, he's the reason I love Batman, he's the reason I claim Robin as my favorite DC hero, and second favorite comic book hero (after Daredevil). I WILL watch Titans season 3 just to see what they do with Tim, even if it's barely a cameo.

Oh, good grief. Eartha Kitt played Catwoman in 1967. Billy Dee Williams played Harvey Dent in 1989. These racist idiots need to shut up.

That's a fair point. He's a bit older of a Bruce Wayne in Titans than in the comics when Jason Todd replaces Robin. Of course that Bruce also wasn't really 'aging' either in the comics that much.

Iain Glen's age doesn't really lend itself to a believable "Bruce Wayne in his 40s" so that kinda makes the whole timeline a bit wonky. If Bruce is in his 50s was he then just by himself as Batman for like 15-20 years before adopting Dick? If so are the continued additon of Robin's more of a reflection of him recognizing his age and the need for help?

So, what are the odds that Titans is eventually going to get to the Carrie Kelley Robin? Any show this edgelord has to be made by people obsessed with Frank Miller's BS (they probably based their Dick grayson off of Miller's, and if you know what he did with Dick it make sense thatin Titans he'd be a violent psycho who would kill and say "Fuck Batman"), so I'd expect to see her show up even if the world in general in Titans doesn't seem to match Miller's all that closely (except for all "heroes" being murderously psychotic).

There's no possibly about it, they've already announced he will and even revealed his Red Hood costume.

I had the same thought when I saw the announcement about Tim.

I wouldn't put it past this show to try Damian as well--but Damian has a distinct back story that centers around Batman so it would be difficult to just drop Damian into the Titans without having Batman also appearing in a significant role.

I've been thinking about Tim Drake. And how Titans intends to use him. I'm honestly expecting a glorified cameo or single episode guest spot, though I can hope for a decently meaty guest role. But how? Part of me wonders if they are going to take a page from A Lonely Place of Dying and have Tim approach Grayson to try and right a wrong. Maybe this time instead of it being Batman's behavior after Jason's death, it will be Jason's behavior leading up to or after he takes the Red Hood identity.

Who knows. This program is hard to predict, when it comes to what they'll keep and what they'll toss in terms of the comic inspirations.

But what I hope? I hope they use Tim to transform the Robin identity back into something hopeful and positive, and away from the trauma machine that they have made it for Grayson and Jason Todd. Dick basically lost himself and became an ultra violent mess because of his choices and time in the suit, only freeing himself when he chose to first give up Robin and then adopt the Nightwing ID. And Jason, who already had violent tendencies, appears to have been broken by Deathstroke during S2. I'm curious if they will try to give Jason any further motivation for becoming the Red Hood, or if we'll leave it at what we've already seen? But either way, Robin is a broken mantle that has broken both men who wore it. Let Tim be the one to take it up, hopefully after an appropriate build up, and restore it, becoming the kind of Robin that Grayson had been prior to the Titans encounter with Deathstroke.

Also, use the Tim and Kon-El friendship from the comics. Even a small moment would be awesome.
