Spoilers Titans - DC Universe Series

How how heck did they get a 2nd season? There has already been a Lot of negative word so far...are they really that confident in it?

The Flash would have been one to get that...but Titans???

Kevin Smith spoke about this kind of situation with Robert Kirkman on the latest Smodcast. Kirkman had offers from both HBO and AMC for The Walking Dead. HBO, of course, is a big deal, but they also don't need any one show to survive and therefore had already cancelled several great shows prematurely (Rome, Deadwood, etc.), while AMC as a relatively new player on original content and with two big hits up to that point (Mad Men, Breaking Bad) had never cancelled a show, even though their audience for the live airings were still so low that a big network would have cancelled these two big hits. Kirkman basically went with AMC because they needed his show more than they needed him, something that wouldn't be the case with HBO.

So, basically, DC Universe doesn't have that much original content yet, so they pretty much need Titans, even if buzz isn't that good right now.

But to be fair, that negative buzz was mostly due to the controversial first trailer and the trolls going after Starfire. The second trailer is way better.

I wouldn't even call the first trailer controversial. Factor out the hit job by the trolls and there's not much controversy.

It seems reviews are out now for the first few episodes for those interested in that sort of thing.

I'll wait till I see the show myself, so if you wish to discuss plot points kindly spoiler tag them. :techman:

So when do y'all get to see this show and let us know what is and is not justified?(in terms of criticism)...and is Starfire human who was experimented or half alien or Tamaran somewhat changed into a human?

According to Wikipedia, it premieres next Friday, the 12th. All the supernatural, demony stuff with Raven kind of makes me wish it was the 13.
I like how Raven's hoody has the point in the middle, making it look a bit like the cloak she wears in the comics.

Another good trailer, I'm starting to get optimistic here.

I really want to be able to watch the show, but the steep annual subscription price for DC Universe, coupled with a lack of availability of the service on the platforms I use the most - Kindle Fire and PlayStation 4 - means that I can't.

I didn't even think to check if it had a PS4 app, disappointing to hear it doesn't.

Dick Grayson parted ways with Batman because this version of the Batman has crossed the line into murder...

Like the Burton and Snyder versions before him. And Nolan, if you count "I don't have to save you," and the bit where Bruce refused to kill a League of Assassins member and then ignited an ammo dump that killed dozens of LoA members... :brickwall:

I guess that disproves people's interpretation of the first trailer showing Robin shooting people (though a close watching made it clear he was shooting over their heads).

:rommie: Every time I think this can't be a bigger pile of shit, it proves me wrong. Its like its trolling everyone, except they're 100% serious. Even Zach Snyder wasn't this fucking nuts. Its like someone who loved the "X-Treme" books of the dark age of comics traveled through time and got hired to make a Titans tv show for some reason. Outside of going X-Rated or something, I don't think its actually possible to do a worse job of making a Titans TV show. Its really impressive, in the worst possible way.

Just watched it. It was okay. Robin is mostly done correctly. He should be less brooding and more cheerful though. The idea that he left because he was becoming too much like Batman doesn't sound right since he was supposed to keep Batman in check. Without Robin around, Batman is supposed to get "rougher".
Raven was fine but shouldn't she have three eyes in her "demonic" state?

Could they not afford orange makeup for Starfire? :)
