Time Crack is stupid

Nothing was erased and as pointed out several times in this thread people will choose to believe what they wish. This happens all the time in the real world. Look how many news events come and go and we forget about them. We're swamped with information and events almost every single day of our lives. Granted, the Dalek invasion was a significant event that happened no doubt about that but people will reject or forget about to move on with their lives and adjust. Repush's line from Torchood I believe clearly explains people's mentality on this. Michael Bay used an example of this with "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" that the people ignored or forgot the big battle the military had with the Transformers from the first movie.

Another question is...have people forgotten the Cybermen invasion from the end of series two? That was significant as well. With over five million Cybermen on the planet and in people's homes.

Yeah no...the time crack didn't erase anything except for altering Amy's own memories. Once again you're assuming just because Amy said SHE did not remember EVERYONE did.

Again, the Universe was not restored (by Big Bang II) by Amy's memories. It was restored by the atoms in the Pandorica which were unaffected by the crack. So what Amy remembered is irrelevant as far as the BBII restoration.

^ Indeed. I was simply making the point that EJA shouldn't be basing his argument on what Amy said in "Victory of the Daleks". That was a throwaway line that hasn't been revisited. We have a lack of information regarding that incident now (I mean if Amy now remembers it or not).

I do think that when Amy said she didn't remember the Dalek invasion, it was because it had been erased from history at the time of that story, not because she somehow failed to hear about it (which she would have, even if she didn't believe it). It may or may not have since been restored since then, which is what this thread is trying to ascertain.

Admiral Young, while your citing of Transformers is interesting and does have a sense of appeal, and I would like to agree 100% with you on it, I do reckon that it's a lot easier to ignore one contained battle in one city than it is to ignore the entire planet being devastated. Thanks for suggesting it though.

And I did grant that an invasion is a much larger and more difficult thing to ignore than a single battle is. I ask my question again though, what about the Cyberman invasion? What about Donna for that matter? We know her memories have been altered specifically by the Doctor himself to make her forget. Before that she MISSED these things or dismissed them. Remember her conversation to her friend as the Doctor was leaving? She completely dismissed the planets in the sky (having not seen them) and was in the process of explaining them away!!! So my point is still valid.

I hate to break this to you but none of the events depicted in Doctor Who ever really happened. It's a fictional TV show, none of the episodes really amount to anything other than being an entertaining television show.

Took the words right out of my mouth. All of it is fiction, none of it "really" happened. Arguing about what piece of fiction is more real than another is silly.
