Authorities say Tiger Woods has been seriously injured in a car wreck in Florida.

The Florida Highway Patrol says Woods hit a fire hydrant and a tree as he pulled out of his driveway early Friday in his 2009 Cadillac sport utility vehicle.

Woods was taken to Health Central Hospital. His condition was not immediately known, though the news release said his injuries were serious.

The highway patrol says the crash is still under investigation, and charges are pending. However, the highway patrol said the crash was not alcohol-related.

I hope, really hope, he isn't as badly hurt as it would appear. A man of supreme talent and a nice guy to boot.

Fingers crossed.

No shit he was stone or drunk.

However MSNBC said he was released and is fine.

I always got the feeling he was a cocky bastard anytime I have seen him on TV.

According to the latest reports, his agent says he's "fine." Apparently minor injuries to the face.

Charges are pending says the news.

*slaps fiver on table*

Drug related.

I'd like a piece of that! 5 on booze!

Police already ruled that alcohol was not a factor in the accident. That bit of news came out in the original AP blurb a few hours ago. Try reading a bit before jumping to conclusions.

"Charges pending" doesn't mean criminal charges. He'll likely be cited with failure to maintain control of his vehicle.

^ That's not a criminal charge?

In the strictest sense of the word, sure, much the same way as driving with a burned-out headlight is. But it's a traffic violation, not even a misdemeanor. We're not talking DUI, here.

In any event, it would appear Phil Mickelson was driving, which is why they ended up in the trees.
