I figured with more and more trailers and teasers and clips (and leaked synopses, apparently...), it's high time to start a thread devoted to all things Thunderbolts* and keep the MCU thread focused on other upcoming content (including the rapidly approaching First Steps).

As much as I am a supporter of almost everything the MCU has done (looking at you, Secret Invasion), I'll admit general interest in both the films and shows have waned in the last couple of years, regardless of quality. That being said, I get the sense that there's a lot of positive buzz for this film. Or maybe that's just me because I'm super excited for the wild and crazy antics of this particular group of characters and the unlikely adventure they're about to endure.

Reiterating what I said in the MCU thread: I find myself wondering and hoping that some of these killer song choices from the trailers are included in the film. I know it's a long shot but I really do want to hear "Where is My Mind?," "Possum Kingdom," "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now," "Opr," and especially "Under Pressure" (aka the greatest song duet ever, fight me) as part of the film's soundtrack.

Lastly, like I've done in the past, once the film is out, I'll mark the thread with the Spoilers tag, edit the title, and add a poll so that people can openly discuss the thread here.

I have tickets for the Wednesday after next for my weekly movie lunch. It looks great. What I really need to do is finish up Falcon & Winter Soldier because I was so burned out on Marvel at the time that I only watched the first episode.

I was hoping I'd get to watch Brave New World on Disney+ before this comes out, but we're a week away and it doesn't look like it'll be on there by then. I checked both Wikipedia and Disney+'s page for upcoming movies and shows and neither of them said anything about when it will be going up. I'm hoping there isn't anything to important to Thunderbolts* in it.

There is a little bit of setup for Bucky's status quo in Thunderbolts*, but I wouldn't say it was anything that you absolutely had to know before going in.

Gone, alas, are the days of the full coverage of the Red Carpet World Premiere, but this 30-minute round-up does a pretty good job of accumulating all of the interviews:

Everyone from the cast is featured, including, much to my surprise and delight, Geraldine Viswanathan and Wendell Pierce! I do wish the full interviews were available for everyone because some of them were on the short side (including the aforementioned two), but nonetheless, the whole thing is a lot of fun to watch. From Florence Pugh in full agog because this is her first proper Marvel premiere (since Black Widow was during COVID) to Sebastian Stan remarking on how the film is a nice balance between the fun of Guardians of the Galaxy and the darker character themes of The Winter Soldier to David Harbour clearly just having the time of his life to Julia Louis-Dreyfus hinting about how we'll learn more about Valentina's background and what drives her.

And with this, I'm adding the poll and putting up the spoilers tag. I'll be seeing the film on Thursday night! See y'all on the flip side!

I don't get why some folks are complaining that they have to see previous movies and/or shows to understand a continuing plotline using characters they KNOW aren't brand new.

Seriously, the MCU has been going on since 2008. They really think they can get away with watching NONE of what came beforehand?

If they want to appeal to people beyond the core fanbase, they need to make these movies accessable to people who don't watch everything. From everything I've seen of this so far, it doesn't really seem like there's anything you'll need to see to follow it.

But after 17 years you'd think folks would understand you can't just go in knowing nothing
