Thunderbirds Are Go - 2015 Series

Wow - quite a kit. Wife asked if I wanted it for Xmas - then I told her it would be $CA1600+ (not to mention with bad eyesight and poor co-ordination I wouldn't have a hope in hell of completing it).

Interesting to know the the part count.

Clever how they do the legs to raise and loewr.
I've dissuaded myself from buying it by noting that the lack of simulated weathering, compared to the studio model, makes it look somewhat toy-like. Plus the fact that I don't have room to display this monster and all of the vehicles.

When you read through the documentation it does actually talk about how to the weathering.

Got to be careful not to cock it up though and, for best effect, use an airbrush with which you are skilled. I'd worry too much that my lack of skill would make a complete mess of a very expensive kit. It might be cheaper to import the original Japanese kit, provided one can make sense of the instructions. Perhaps start with the smaller and simpler TB1, for which videos are available on YouTube. One guy there makes some very elementary mistakes but eventually manages to build a reasonable TB1 - although he had to buy a second kit to fix his cockups.

ETA: Scale Spacecraft Modelling by Mat Irvine probably offers the best advice on weathering and other techniques.

Hyperspeed featuring the Doctor/IR teamup I was fanficcing about, except not, but great to have David Tennant back with his actual accent and playing a slightly mad genius.

In my fanfic, the TARDIS is Thunderbird Zero, having met Jeff Tracey years before and given him the idea with "assistance and advice available immediately". The Doctor then meets the Tracey boys on another adventure when an alien warhead needs retrieving but the TARDIS' advanced tech would trigger it - Thunderbirds Are Go!

There's some spoilers for the season 2 finale. There was an interview with Rob Hoegee last year (around 11 minutes into the video) although he doesn't reveal specifically what happens.

The hotly anticipated, iconic British TV series THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO arrives back on our screens, with Season 3, Part 1 airing on CITV Spring, 2018. Starring RASMUS HARDIKER, DAVID MENKIN, THOMAS BRODIE-SANGSTER, KAYVAN NOVAK, ROSAMUND PIKE and DAVID GRAHAM, this season promises more family favourite rescue efforts from the Tracy Family.

Produced by ITV Studios and Pukeko Pictures in association with Weta Workshop, this season will introduce two brand new characters: a villainous coalition, THE CHAOS CREW - HAVOC (a master thief and pilot) and FUSE (a hulking demolition expert). They bring an array of exciting destructive skills, weapons and vehicles including SPOILER (Havoc’s car), BASHER (Fuse’s ATV) and their combined aerial jet known as THE CHAOS CRUISER. Also joining the star-studded cast is multiple award-winning actress RUTH JONES, playing an unflappable rig driver on a treacherous mountain road and BEN BAILEY SMITH as Jensen Hunt. Fun for the whole family, fans old and new, or those looking for an introduction to the world of International Rescue, this is one not to be missed!

This series, International Rescue has their hands full: The Tracys and their Thunderbirds must go above and beyond to tackle new threats while continuing to rescue those in need. An undersea mission for Thunderbird 2, the return of Maximum MAX (and several other MAXes for that matter), the unrelenting heat of planet Mercury and a rapidly growing giant geranium are just a taste of what’s in store. Luckily, our heroes find help along the way: from a game master within his futuristic virtual realm, a rig driver facing perilous conditions, and a pompous race car driver just to name a few. The GDF also steps in to help with their own rescue operation machinations (known as R.O. BOTS), but they soon prove to be more trouble than they’re worth. All the while, through every adventure, a grand and ultimate mission begins to take shape. One that will require the combined assembly of every Thunderbird, not to mention the aid of International Rescue’s old friend - the Mechanic. This mission, once attempted, would leave Tracy Island vulnerable to a devastating attack, but it may also end in the Tracys’ biggest and most personal rescue yet.

New episodes to run in the UK from May the 18th, and acc. a report they will feature... blast, can't recall how to work spoiler text, so a vehicle familiar from the original, and an important voice role for Lee Majors.
