Three new actors announced as well as some plot details

I'm sure they'll manage to fit that in about 5 to 10 percent of the time, same as the other series.

In fact, probably the series that devoted the most time of any to exploration was Enterprise.

Oh come on...90 percent of Voyager was totally new things and places. Everything from the Gamma Quadrant in Ds9....

I would argue that it fit 100% of TOS.
And yes, after they encountered new cultures they of course were about the respective's culture's politics or war sometimes. I have absolutely zero problem with that. I just want the primary focus of the show be exploring new stuff. I don't want a Star Trek-meets-GOT where different characters are on different ships plotting alliances and the great big war of their time...aka the Dominion war with klingons this time.

They spent relatively little time exploring; most of those folks they encountered while focusing on finding a shortcut home.

(Also, it's true that I forget about Voyager altogether)

That's sort of how Columbus hit America.

Personally, I like Klingons. Klingons are cool.
I agree. I like Klingons and, in fact, would have liked to see a series built around them, their culture the people. They are a passionate race and do nothing half heartedly. Even their opera is filled with passion.

- In the novelization, Valeris actually erases all records of the Klingon language from the computer. So the UT would no longer work for Klingonese.

And someone doesn't notice this? deletion records for a vital piece of information showing an unauthorised entry to the Enterprise linguacode database after Burke and Samno are in the morgue?

The whole scene is utter nonsense, the film creates so many insane instances of the Enterprise crew suddenly like a new group of people I can't see how we're not meant to chalk up to a terrible director/writer and leave it at that.

No one noticed the torpedo record problem until they had to look. And even then, no one knew who did it. Would fall perfectly in like. And they weren't dead yet ;)

Regardless of actions and perceptions if they were a bit 'silly', the scene isn't nonsense. They use a universal translator, it gets detected. Perfectly reasonable considering they're trying whatever they can not to get busted. They don't know how to speak Klingonese. Why would they? They've had translators all this time!

Uhura (in this instance) isn't a linguist. That concept never came up until Enterprise, really. The scene had explanation and made sense in the context of the film. Were they acting a little kooky? Yes. Doesn't make it nonsense.

And Uhura's bumbling attempt to speak Klingonese also works in their favor: They're smugglers, so it makes sense that they're trying to speak a language that isn't theirs. Smugglers would look as foolish as the Enterprise crew did. That's what they're supposed to sound like.

And the guards at Morska outpost didn't seem too surprised, as the last thing they said was "Don't catch any bugs!" (meaning, don't get caught).

They were trying to be a supply ship. The guard post probably assumed they were smugglers. The second part is unclear.

Oh God no, again with the Klingons!? I'm so fucking tired of them. I hate to be negative, but for now, a lot of my initial enthusiasm is gone, to be honest.
What this "Again" bit?

ST: D takes place in the TOS era 11 years prior to TOS itself. The Klingons were the main protagonists of that era (The Romulans still hadn't re-appeared and that point and won't until "Balance of Terror".)

What other protagonist race would you expect in this era?

Sure, they could have, but if you're going to set a show before TOS it would make sense to explore the biggest conflicts of that era, which we already know was with the Klingons. If they were just going to invent a new enemy, then they probably would have set it after the rest of the series.
I would argue that it fit 100% of TOS.

We already know this is going to be a big arc, so unless they spend the whole season on one planet, I don't expect there to be much exploring. I'm fine with the series focusing on politics and conflict with the Klingons. Some of my favorite episodes were the ones that dealt with familiar aliens and politics instead of new worlds and new civilizations.

IMDB shows the cast so far along with number of episodes each appear in?

Is this confirming Yeoh will be playing an extremely important role while the 3 Klingons will only be playing a role in a 2-parter? Or do you think this is IMDB being presumptuous?

Since anyone can add to IMDB, I'd wait until another source backs it up. We live in a world where people will invent details like that because they think it looks nice.

I like the idea of the Klingon houses going into space acting in their own interests with ships that are adorned with their respective coat of arms and looking very different from each other, etc. That's definitely something we haven't seen yet.

Imagine a non-unified Earth with each country having ships and doing whatever the hell they want and regular skirmishes with each other. Russia's ships expanding and hacking other ships' systems while America and most European nations are trying to explore and set up peaceful trade. North Korea's ships threatening with subspace weapons, etc. And don't forget the extremist factions. They have ships too. All working against each other pissing on Earth's credibility as a whole. That's the kind of Klingons I want to see.

Additionally, the Romulans as a much larger than the rest China-like unified totalitarian power professing a higher level of morality than the rest. And using the Remans as their infantry fighting force and all the subjugation that goes along with that.
