Thoughts on "Code of Honor"...

It's true, even the main characters come off as extremely weird and wooden in that episode, even if when compared to the rest of Season 1.
Data, much more mechanical than in other episodes, with his weird way of continuously walking at Gerodi while rattling off a "joke", Troi with her statement that Tasha secretly enjoys her kidnapping because Lutan is a hunk. Tasha smiling and admitting that she secretly enjoys her abduction because Lutan is such a hunk, Picard calling Yareena a "lovely female", the numerous times characters state how beautiful Yar is, Troi being on board with killing Yareena so that they can get to the vaccine because "Betazoid blood is practical". The crew going out of their way to rescue Yareena but not giving a damn about the spectator who was killed, Tasha and Yareena's awkward flailing during their "fight scene"....

Even if the horrible racism wasn't part of the episode, it would still be one of the worst Star Trek has ever produced.

Nobody even talks about the headband Yar wears in the fight. Get the impression Gene came down and said. "Make her look more like Vasquez from Aliens." Basically the inspiration for the Yar character.

It's a big universe. Different societies are going to have different views on how their societies should function. Just because they don't meet some person's view on how society should be run doesn't mean their planets are awful pieces of garbage.
I find the idea of nearly every planet they travel to being unified without different ideals on those planets to be the most odd thing .
