GallifreyBase permabanned David, for reasons that make absolutely no sense.
I haven't been banned from there but tonight was the last straw for me in regards to posting there.
Apparently it is OK to repeatedly break the rules you sign up to when you join those forums as long as it's done in the service of attacking anyone who dares not to go along with the approved Group Think.

Jesus. I made the mistake of reading those forums once. The repellant slime of humanity spewing out revolting abuse at RTD (and just about everyone else involved in making the series).
And of course, in any of them ever actually came fact-to-face with any of their targets they wouldn't have the balls to say to their face what they'll write on the internet.
Hearing from other people about what it's like there, I've never felt inclined to sign up. Ironic, really, that one of the nicest places to talk about Doctor Who is on a Trek board (but I suspect that's because there's a lot of people here who only just discovered Who over the last few years, and still have the joy of fandom rather than...)

Ironically, the one thing I do not do at Gallifrey Base is talk Doctor Who. I stick to the general entertainment fora, I'll poke around the fan audio forum, I'll look in on the books forum, but I stay the hell away from the new series fora. They're not worth the aggravation.
I can't understand why anyone would sign up for Gallifrey Base, to be honest. It's a closed forum; you don't know what you're getting into because you have to sign up blind. (The TrekBBS system, where almost everything is visible to the lay audience, and some things are restricted makes more sense; someone can dip in, look around, and then make an informed decision.) And then once you're there, it's very clique-ish, probably because a lot of the people in charge there have been together for a long, long time.

I only ever read and post in the audio play forum, and while I've only been reading it for a couple of months, it seems pretty civil there at least. But I have heard many horror stories about the board in general, so I'm not surprised by this situation, unfortunately.
That sucks Maggie. Then again, GallifreyBase (and Outpost Gallifrey before it) seemed to attract loonies that love to annoy the "normal" fan.
