THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till release

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Is it just me, or do the costumes look like cheap plastic?

Nah, for cheap plastic go over to the Wonder Woman thread.
Now that costume looks cheap and plastic-tastic!!

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

I don't see where they're really that much worse than what you see in most of these kinds of movies.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

I''m so sick of photoshopped posters lacking any innovation or imagination. These are the worst.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Any idea if "Thor" is getting a novelization? I've read no news of it. I saw that an Art book is being released on May 4 and there is a junior novel I think (same for Cap).

Having read the leaked script from a couple of months ago I can confirm that article is indeed not a rumor and
Hawkeye does have a lengthly cameo in the film.

AFAIK there's no pretense on Wonder Woman's part that her costume is made of metal. In fact, Lynda Carter's was clearly gold lame fabric and mylar trim.

Really, the only thing that's kind of hard to buy with WW is the notion that a woman with any sense of style at all would ever have willingly worn the traditional costume.

I think somebody posted uptopic that there's supposed to be some kind of post-production attempt to create metallic specularity and reflections on the Asgardian armor. That, at least, would explain why a production like this has been willing to settle for such unconvincing outfits on the stage.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

The outfits in those promotional images (which were done for Walmart or whatever, I guess), do have a sort of plastic sheen that is absent from the footage of the actual film. It's also different from the way the costumes looked even from set photos.

I basically agree. Wonder Woman was a man's idea of what a superior, idealized woman would be like, and she has an outfit to match.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

Well, she was also an artistic design intended to fit the comic book medium and milieu of that era. You know, of the pre-WW II superhero set Batman's probably the only one whose outfit can be represented as anything other than silly without basic rethinking. Neutral colors, neutral colors.

Oh come on, Alan Scott's costume is clearly not silly. ;)

Scott's costume was one of my favorites when I first encountered him in the pages of the Silver Age Green Lantern's comic. I really had a thing for capes on superhero outfits. IIRC, Scott's outfit was modernized just a little bit for his early Silver Age appearances.

I'm late to the game as a comics fan, but I enjoy the Justice Society in their mid-90s and beyond incarnation, so I love Alan. Even with his awesomely ridiculous costume. :techman:

Click here for news of a possible cameo in Thor. There's a more spoilerific one at moviehole but I haven't linked to it as the very title of the article is a spoiler:

But, according to an article who's location I can't remember, he won't be identified as Hawkeye, he's just going to be a SHEILD agent who uses a bow and arrow. I wish I could remember where I read that, but I cleared my history and it wasn't at comingsoon or trekmovie, my two major sources for movie news.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

the SHH article said he's not named and not in costume.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

That might be it then, because SHH and Comingsoon are part of the same group of sites. And alot of CS's comic book movie stories are taken directly from SHH.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

I'm trying to see if I can be at the World Premiere for the film, but if not got plans to see it over Easter. Can't wait.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

I hope they don't spend too much time at Asgard at the start of the movie.

I can't wait to see how Anthony Hopkins does as Thor's father. No actor has been able to top Marlon Brando as the best superhero dad.

There's a review elsewhere of about twenty minutes of Thor shown at a convention the other day - it appears a fair amount of the early part of the film is in Asgard.

Re: THOR-starts shooting Jan2010: Updates, Rumors & Casting till relea

The leaked draft of the script I read has about
a third of the film in Asgard during the flashback sequence if that is still intact
