Any reason other than racial diversity we keep seeing Heimdal on all the posters? Does he play a large part in the movie? Wheres Volstagg or Balder or Fandral?

From what I have read his role is pretty significant, yes. But I'm sure diversity plays a role in his being featured in the marketing. Plus the fact that he looks cool.

In addition to being a regular character in the story, apparently he functions as the film's narrator (which makes sense given his vision and hearing that extend to all the nine worlds, both in mythology and in the comics, as I recall).

Could also be contractual reasons, and/or because Idris Elba's been kind of a rising star (in the American market) in recent years.

^ True, that is also possible. It wouldn't really make sense to picture only one of the Warriors Three, who tend to function as a unit, so it comes down to Jaime Alexander as Sif or Idris Elba as Heimdall, basically. (Or Kat Dennings as normal human girl :).)

Thanks Flemm didnt know about the narrator part of the story which does make a good deal of sense. A nice trailer with some special narration over it ending on the rainbow bridge with Heimdel would have been nice.

The still shots of that Thor armor look real rubbery. It does look better in motion though.

It's an awesome image, but most likely from the set, not from the movie. A metallic edge was added to the costumes in post-production. (Also, look at the lighting and shadows.)

Walmart's got new photos of Odin, Loki and Sif with the Warriors 3. unfortunately, i dunno how to yank them out, since they're embedded in frigging flash...
