Thor 2 -Movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2013

Re: Thor 2 discussion thread.

I assume that Jane will finally find a way to open a wormhole to Asgard and that she'll walk into the middle of some sort of Asgardian crisis. Probably a full-on Thor/Jane romance will take place in the backdrop of the conflict.
Given the Game of Thrones connection that could lead to a ratings change. ;)

If I recall, Thor 2 will be out for Thanksgiving 2013. I think it shoots later this summer.

Thanks, the only thing I'd heard was a rumour of spring 2014 some weeks back.

They pushed it to November to avoid competition with The Lone Ranger. Thor fears no Frost Giants or Chitauri but he runs, scared shitless from the box office power of Johnny Depp. ;)

From what I hear Iron Man on the other hand not so much.

I could do without Kat Dennings in this movie. I've no problem with the actress but her character was an annoying twit.

I'm not sure how you can like Kat Dennings and not like the character she played. She mostly just plays herself anyways. The only difference between Darcy and her character on 2 Broke Girls is less sarcasm.

Never seen 2 Broke Girls.

Most of the other stuff I've seen Dennings in I've liked her but her character in Thor just didn't work for me. Granted that Mjolnir is hard to say (let alone spell) it was buggy the way she kept calling it "Meow-Meow" like a little kid learning to say "apple" and then they're on the roof of the building and Jane is talking about the loss of her entire life's work and Darcy is all, "I just lost my iPod, I just downloaded like 10 new songs on there."

Her character was just annoying in the movie.

Well, I just suppose we'll have to agree to disagree. Cause I really like the bit where she's complaining about her iPod. It's the perfect contrast to Jane complaining about losing her entire lifes work.

Dude, that's like 10 WHOLE BUCKS right there! That's a lot of money for a college student to blow on music....

Of course that's assuming she actually paid for those songs!

I hope she loses her iPhone (or her bra) in Thor 2. :D

I dunno, someone's complaining about losing their life's work, thousands of dollars in equipment -all of it you made yourself-, countering that by complaining about losing a $300 iPod and few dollars worth of songs comes across as sort of... petty. It also makes her sort of a poor friend (?) to Jane as she was offering no support to her for, again, losing her life's work.

She just mostly came across as an annoying twit. (Again, the character not the actress.)

Hell, in the beginning scene Jane is doing her work and Darcy is all:  "This is boring. Can I turn on the radio?"

Oh, and then while at the hospital dropping off Thor she freaking fingers her friend and boss in Thor's injuries by telling the nurse that Jane had hit Thor with the car! I mean, Jesus, girl. Keep your freaking mouth shut!

Scrutinizing the "reality" of a joke in a scene in a movie about a thunder god and his big electric hammer fighting ice giants and flamethrowing steel monsters seems a little ridiculous to me.

Or, taken more obtusely it could be argued that the scene is a very scathing commentary on the "me-me-me-me" narcissism of the world today and of our generation specifically. Jane may be lamenting the loss of her entire life's work, but Kat lost her iPod. Doesn't matter the magnitude of the matter; all that matters to each is what they themselves have lost. I'm surprised that you of all people didn't "get" that part of it, Trekker.

Nah, overthinking it.

i just think she's an amusingly clueless self-centred fool. i love it when Jane's explaining an Einstein-Rosen Bridge in technobabble and Erik says 'it's a wormhole' and she immediately goes "Oh, right."

It was the other way around. Erik was explaining an Einstein-Rosen Bridge in technobabble and Jane parses it down to "a wormhole" which, somehow, Darcy is able to understand.
