Interesting read... it would have been nice to have a DS9 movie, perhaps one that revolves around Sisko returning and involving all the main and secondary characters..... but money-wise, it just wouldn't work, because DS9 doesn't exactly fit a broad audience unfortunately, and besides that, unless someone actually watched the series, they wouldn't know wtf was going on while jumping right into a story that's been going on for seven years before they sat down in the theatre to watch it.
That and well.... the new Star Trek movie sorta screwed up any chances of making a DS9 movie in the first place.

There are many many reasons I love Nana, but one that interview highlights is how into the character she was/is and how much stuff like her promotion or commanding the Defiant really meant to her. She really seems to still care about Kira just as much as when she was filming the show.
There was a Rene Auberjonois interview somewhere where he said he often used to catch her on the upper level of the promenade looking out the stars as if they were real...which is just so sweet...

What a wonderul interview. I can tell she was very much emotionally invested in the character and that lent a lot of honesty and intimacy to her portrayal. What a talented, gracious woman.
Interesting interview. I agree that Duet really is one of DS9's finest hours, and an episode I put in the top 3 episodes of the series. As for the movie, it would have been nice but now not so much. It's just been too long since the end of the series and now for people to get back into any kind of movie, let alone bringing in new fans.
Good interview. I think I've read it before. Visitor created such a fantastic character with grace, thoughtfulness, and more than a little spunk. I loved the evolution of Kira from the beginning on. She started off as such an angry woman, and grew into such a well rounded individual. Good stuff.
Visitor is one of my favorite actresses. I think I've read that interview before, but it was nice to glance at again. I was so excited that she got work on another show I watched back during Season 4 of BSG two years ago. I guess she had a good end relationship with Ron D. Moore and Thompson/Weddle, et al.

When I started watching DS9 I couldn't stand her, but now (as I got older) she's one of my favorite actresses and Kira is one of my favorite characters. I recall reading that her tears during the filming at Vics (which was one of the last things filmed) were real.

Yes they were real. She spoke about it at the convention. Every time "Vic" looked at her she would burst into tears.
She was my Favorite on DS9 and a joy to meet. She was very nice and seemed very happy to be a part of ST.

Nana Visitor and the character of Kira is one of the key reasons why DS-9 is my favorite of all the Treks. Nana's acting and the way the character was written spoke to me in a way that none of the others had before. Here was this broken person thrown into situations that forced her to evolve. In the pilot, Kira captured me with "If you want a war... I'll give you one" and never let go until the very end.
And "Duet" is one of my all-time favorites. Even now, sixteen years later, I still cry when Kira looks up from Marritza's body. It moves me in ways that I find remarkable.
