this is not good. In hospital.

just put 24 hours on the Patientline how useless is that? Couldn't log on here, or a lot of other places. It doesn't have Bbc four so i'll miss the show I was gonna watch tonight. What a waste of money.
That thing is the biggest rip off going.
Hope you get well soon.

managed to log in, but it's almost as bad as my phone lol. surely they couldd come up with something better in this day and age, esppecially when charging £3a day.

Someone, somewhere, has probably done a study that concludes it's best not to make things too comfortable for the patients, or they'll never leave.

Patientline is extortionate for what they provide. I believe at least one incarnation of it has already gone bust, because people figured this out. Sorry you had to find out the hard way.

well all my results are ok, clear on the heart infection. Just looks like my blood is infected. Which is getting better apparently.
That's great news. :bolian:

But now they're saying 6 weeks, which has me on the verge of tears. I can't stand the thought of that long, 4 weeks seemed far too long for me anyway.
Good opportunity to write a book or a movie or something. ;)

well my mam bought me a portable dvd player and brought me some dvds in to watch which helped me sleep last night better than I have been.
Did I mention I broke my netbook? Pulled it off the locker and broke it. Not happy.

That sucks ass.

How are you doing, it reads as if you are feeling a bit better.

I rewatched the first episode of Red Dwarf and sent you good thoughts while doing it.

Feel better man.

they've put a line in today as a longer term solution for the IV. Said i've got a minimum 18 days more iv treatment but if I arrange round it I can go out for a few hours at a time.

Hmmm, a PICC line? That sounds great. That definitely provides you with some much-needed freedom. :) Nice one.

Could they even consider home IV treatment via the PICC line? Or is this too short-term for that?

Bob, I hope you get through this OK and ASAP.

Zion, I'm just curious, what's a PICC line? How does it compare to a regular IV?

PICC = peripherally inserted central catheter. A long intravenous line inserted usually in the arm which passes along a vein and ends up in one of the big veins in the thorax, used for mid- to long-term (weeks) IV treatments including antibiotics, chemotherapy, and intravenous feeding.

Compare it to other forms of IV access through the arm, via a standard Venflon™ cannula, which are only really guaranteed for about 3 days at a time before they need changing, but are otherwise very easy to insert.

Also compare it to long-term central venous access required for several months, such as Hickman lines for long-term immunosuppressants or chemotherapy (e.g. for certain inflammatory neurological disorders) or central haemodialysis access in the neck or groin.

How bad? Like "won't boot" broke or did you just smash the screen?

bad news on the netbook, but I'm glad you've got a DVD player - settle down to watch some TV series boxed sets, that'll pass the time :)

You could start with Star Trek TOS and and finish with Enterprise. :techman: You'd probably be out before you were through.
