Third SG-1 movie is Stargate: Revolution

Gateworld reports...

The working title for the next SG-1 movie is entitled Stargate: Revolution and it will reunite the cast of the long-running show, including former lead Richard Dean Anderson.

As of last spring, the intention was to shoot one or both of the movies this fall But continuing economic pressures have prevented MGM from committing just yet

Wright told fans at this year’s Vancouver Stargate convention that “I had a story idea that really worked with O’Neill. And it’s not just his character, by any means. It’s a Stargate story that brings O’Neill back in a big way.”

I won't be surprised if this is the last SG-1 movie full stop or for a long time barring any crossover movie with SG-A. I would expect late 2010 for SG-1 & SG-A movies if not one of them in early 2011.

I've not heard anything about casting other than RDA, though if Claudia was unavailable to be around originally that was long after the original filming date so she might be free now.

I want this movie to remind me of the days when SG-1 was actually good. ie. seasons 1 to 6. Maybe 7.

No fanwanky AU storylines (Continuum), no replicators taking over half the plot (AotT), no ridiculous technobabble (SG-1 latter seasons), and no loooonnng boring scenes that drag on for ages (Continuum). No silly paper-thin 'Trust' or 'Lucian alliance' stories. O'Neill, not too serious, not the walking joke he was in the last few years.

Good, classic action adventure SG-1 please, with the original 4 characters, going through the stargate.

Oh and if someone can ban the actor who plays Dr Lee from ever appearing on the show again, that'd be good.

I bet you'll be disappointed. I've noticed that RDA lost all of his enthusiasm for acting/stargate since his one off appearance in S9. Everytime I saw him it looked like he was bored or just doing it for pay check.

Oh and if someone can ban the actor who plays Dr Lee from ever appearing on the show again, that'd be good.

WHAAAAT? You serious? I love that guy. One of the best supporting characters on Stargate.

Completely agree. If I were doing Stargate:Revolution, here is the story I would probably do:

The new Jaffa nation is days away from a historic election spanning many worlds. But, Tealc suspects a conspiracy to derail the election. His suspicions are proven correct when a charismatic Jaffa leader rises up and declares himself the absolute ruler of all Jaffa. Tealc calls upon his old friends from SG1, Sam Carter, Daniel Jackson and Jack O'Neill to help him save his people from tyranny. SG1 embark on a final adventure through the stargate to save Tealc's people from evil.

Nah. Thats to much Season 8.

How about this. Daniel and Carter are exploring. They get trapped by a hostile group of aliens that feature a significant amount of hot women. Daniel tries to communicate with them while Carter is coming up with a plan to escape. Meanwhile Jack and Teal'C must convince the General to let them stage a rescue mission while making numerous comments that does nothing to serve their cause.

WHAAAAT? You serious? I love that guy. One of the best supporting characters on Stargate.

He is awful. An annoying little man, who is neither funny, nor interesting, played by a guy who can't act.

"One of the best supporting characters on Stargate" ...:lol:

I too like Dr Bill Lee.

That said, i Do hope we get this movie, and that it is a good bookend to the whole series.

It would be nice to have one last ride of SG-1. This is great news.

And I hope Bill Lee is in it too. Wouldn't be the same without him.

That was a serious statement. Personally I would have loved it if he became a main character in Season 9 and 10. The stuff between him and Daniel was legendary almost like the Jack & and Daniel banter in the early seasons.

Oh and he can so act.

^^^ True... I was considering Jack, Daniel, Sam, and Teal'c as the main cast, and everyone else as supporting characters, but you are right, he was in the main credits.

Thanks for the Stargate dvd movie update.I wonder what the storyline will be for Revolution and how large a role will Richard Dean Anderson have in the movie.I also hope we'll get some news about the new Stargate Atlantis movie too.

Maybe the revolution will be having the Stargate revealed to the public. It's way past time for that to happen and would open up more story opportunities for SG:U.

I definitely hope this movie gets made, and that more SG-1 and Atlantis movies follow. This franchise is rich with storytelling possibilities. I'd be happy if the movie were a standalone adventure on a newly discovered world, something that could be referenced and developed in future stories.

And I think Ben Browder was a great successor to O'Neill; which surprised me, because I didn't care for him at all in Farscape.

I would be very happy if Browder and Black aren't in this.

Browder's my only reason to watch it.

But I'd much prefer that he get some better-written sci fi franchise altogether and leave SG-1 to RDA's phone-it-in acting style (which frankly is all it deserves, so good for him). :bolian:
