Richard Dean Anderson is better than Ben Browder was on Stargate. Mitchell was nothing but a shallow Jack O'Neill clone, and the producers brought in Browder to capitalize on his Farscape role. But Mitchell had none of the depth, and only a hint of the irreverence, of John Crichton. It's a shame Browder was so wasted, but at least he was earning a steady paycheck for 40 episodes and two movies.

RDA is a lazy SOB these days he's age 59 FFS and virtually semi retired from acting, a job he has done for a long time. If he wants to be a little lazy then hes deserved it even though I disagree with your point 100%.
After "Continuum," I have 3 major notes for the writers for the next movie:
1.) More Jack O'Neill.
2.) More Vala Mal Doran.
3.) Less Col. Mitchell.
I like Ben Browder but I don't think Mitchell is that great. He's not nearly as entertaining as Jack O'Neill or John Sheppard (or John Crichton for that matter).
Can we bring in Bra'tac? Bra'tac is the man!
For what it's worth, I don't like Dr. Lee. He's too incompetant. All of the other characters, as goofy as they get, are still pretty good at their jobs. Dr. Lee just seems like an idiot most of the time.
I disagree. You may not be aware of this but RDA has actually not long ago had major leg surgery. Take it from someone who knows from experience: having to re-learn to walk makes day to day life hard. Imagine the every day rigors of being an actor! Furthermore, he took time off to spend time with his daughter, which is quite admirable IMO. Finally, being 59 and having an acting career which has spanned since he was in his 20's does not constitute being a lazy SOB. He's not even properly retired as he is actively involved in this new movie, and he is involved with Sea Shepherd.
As for Ben Browder, I believe that he will be in Stargate: Revolution if the spoiler I heard the other day was correct:
If you cast your mind back to 1969, you may be quite shocked to learn that the hippy couple are Mitchell's parents. It actually makes surprising sense if you rewatch it, rewatch 200, and any other episode where he mentions his parents or childhood. It all slots in surprisingly well.
Personally, I can't wait until this new movie. I've heard rumors that shooting will start in December/January. *happy dance*

The male hippy's name was Michael. Mitchell's father's name was Frank.
Frank Mitchell was a military test pilot. Michael the hippy was drafted to fight in Vietnam, and tried fleeing to Canada.
This idea makes no sense at all. Besides the thing about Mitchell not knowing about the 1969 mission seems to have been forgotten. In Continuum he knew about solar flares being used to make Stargates time machines, which was learned from the 1969 mission. Hell, everyone from John Sheppard to Dr. Rush knows about the 1969 mission, so it's just weird Mitchell wouldn't.
Ok, that's the last time I post anything after midnight! My source was pure hearsay from a friend of mine, who's word I trusted impeccably. I was unaware that she was that far off. I did not know that her source was IMDB until I asked her upon reading here, which pretty much explains why it makes no sense. This is so embarrassing! I am terribly sorry for not checking my sources first!
^I suspect it all hinges on whether or not this one makes money. From what I heard, "The Ark of Truth" & "Continuum" did pretty well. (Wasn't that part of MGM's motivation for ending Atlantis? I read somewhere that they realized that making direct-to-video movies was more profitable than doing a regular 20-episode season.)
Actually, I am at least 60% happy with that team. As I said, Bra'tac is the man! I'm a big fan of Zelenka & Jeannie Miller. (Adding either one as a regular on SGU would make me at least 20 times more interested in trying out that show.) My only strong objection would be Dr. Lee. As I said, he's an idiot and I think we'd all be better off without him. I like Walter but I'm not sure that he'd actually add anything. (Still, I'd kinda like to see an episode in the vein of "The Other Guys" with Walter & Sgt. O'Brien.)

A couple of movies a year are certainly cheaper investments, but are the profits from these DVDs really more than weekly ad revenue? Although, I suppose with the DVDs they don't need to give Sci-Fi a cut...

IIRC, it wasn't that he didn't know about 1969, it's that there was an addendum to the mission report that was kept from him, detailing that O'Neill got it on in the past. Of course, considering they were just yanking his chain...

Makes sense. $7 million for a 90 minute "movie" that would be two episodes normally sell for $15. 20 episodes on DVD cost $35 new, yes there are ads but I think MGM realizes that no one watches the shows live anymore.
What I want to know is when they're finally going to "RESOLVE" things. Sheesh. They've had 10 seasons and two TV movies to do it, but somehow haven't come anywhere near a series finale proper.
