Think up a new, post-NEM movie idea

So, apparently Frakes, Stewart and Co. are chompin' at the bit for another go. Let's think up a good, final sendoff for these folks, set post-NEM. Remember, Data is dead and Riker/Troi are on the Titan.

So, what would be a good, last TNG movie plot? (no more bum steers, please)

Like you said, something that keeps the consistency of PostNem. Maybe reuniting the Titan and Enterprise to fight a common foe. Something has to bring them together to save the universe. Along those lines. You can show B4 developing, Troi having a babyzoid. I don't know, just rambling. ;)

Essential ingredients for me:

A reflection that TNG characters have moved on since Nemesis. Somewhere close to 6-8 years in real time. No attempt must be made to hide their age, like Star Trek VI the story should mirror reality. So maybe the crew's reputation with Starfleet has been tarnished since the Shinzon incident. Their thunder stolen in recent years by a new hot shot Captain who took over the Titan and has been out saving the Federation countless times since. The story takes a turn for the worse when he goes spectacularly off the rails, causing a mutiny on the ship and heading off into Romulan space.

Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (having been forced into retirement, he has a distinguished beard) is guest of honour at the Enterprise's decommission ceremony. He's also become B4's keeper, who still hasn't been able to evolve back to Data's level. Also in attendance are William Riker (left the Titan in bad circumstances, which will be central to the plot), Deanna Troi, Miles O'Brien* (teachers at the Academy), Beverley Crusher (head of Starfleet Medical). With greater advances in starship design, overseen by Geordi La Forge - the ENT-E herself had been quietly withdrawn from exploration/defence missions. Spending its final days ferrying Federation dignitaries to and from Earth.

Worf, now a Klingon Ambassador in Romulan space joins the fray later in the film. He's stationed at a planet which comes under attack from the Titan. The difference here, (contrast to FC & INS) he hasn't been able to drop everything to attend the reunion. Instead the action (and the Enterprise) will come to him.

An all-new female character, 1st Romulan in Starfleet or some such.

Throw in an Andorian henchman for the bad guy aboard the Titan. That make-up from ENT is still fantastic and deserves to be seen again.

* "The Chief" deserved to be in a Next Gen film and I'd be interested to see where his life took him (post DS9).

A romantic comedy about Seven of Nine trying to assimilate herself into Earth culture after Voyager's return.

Like TNG's "Undiscovered Country" mirroring Sulu and his Excelsior coming to the aid of his former Captain on the Enteprise. That would be be awesome.

Henchman? :S

I'd like to see an adaptation of the two "Avatar" books, personally. That would effectively pass the torch from the TNG crew and leave it open for any DS9 movies that might follow.

I just sat for five minutes trying to think of what to say without starting an argument here.
So I'll leave it be. Good luck on that DS9 thing ;)

I can't think of a stand alone story that would fit TNG characters at the moment, but I know I would limit B4 to a guest appearance...

Maybe Picard trying to get to information only Data could know, revealing a deactivated B4 that was shut down due to complications from Data's memories/info tansfer overloading his neural net. Not exactly a great or refine idea, but It'd be nice if they didn't try to ressurect a new Data in any way.

Onthe slim chance they did it, I wouldn't mind seeing something showing the peace forming with the Romulans after Nemasis, and bringing in someone from Voyager or DS9 (Nog or Tuvok?) to fill up the numbers as Data would be out and Rikers on another ship with Troi.

Now that would be cool, I would like to see Nog. I love Tuvok but Nog is one of those characters I'd like to see explored more.

Nog was the first that sprung to mind as I'd imagine his quick promotion to Lieutenant and being the fist Ferengi in the fleet might appeal to Picard, plus the make up is more interesting and his rank would avoid referring to another cast member as Commander.

Plus he's the only one in the cast that can be moved over, as everyone else was non-SF or would be taking a step down in their career (such as O'Brien) and in my mind it'd be better to have at least one familier face while bringing in some new guys such as an XO - which could, possibly, be offered to Worf to give him a better excuse to be there other than just showing up at the right time.

Tuvok came to mind to have a Vulcan in there.. and out of the Voyager cast he's the most likely to get the move to a more important ship.

Henchman? :S
Sure why not? Andorians are good hand-to-hand fighters. Both the new Captain and a number of the Titan crew (including this officier) go rogue, convinced that the peace established with the Romulans isn't working. Besides the race is too interesting to waste sitting at the helm, nodding and occasionally saying "Aye, sir". The word henchman means faithful supporter afterall and we're not talking black hat villians, more like renegades with a cause, having lost family during a Romulan sneak attack.

1. Picard has the Enterprise, LaForge, Dr. Crusher, and a handful of VOY / DS9 crew.
2. Riker has the Titan w/ Troi, Wesley Crusher, and also some VOY/DS9 members. I can see Nog on Riker's ship for some reason. Toss in an Andorian somewhere, because they're awesome.
So it's basically a huge family reunion across the two ships.

They pick up a positronic signature.....no.....

I think a Trek film on terrorism and religious fundamentalism could work. It's been done on the small screen a lot so it would need to avoid drawing heavily on DS9 and TNG episodes which was the main problem with NEM and INS to a lesser extent.
Nothing with bringing back Data. Best not even mention B4. He's on the short bus somewhere.
Not sure where to place Worf. Maybe bring him in later in the film with the Defiant or something.

We need a TNG movie that:

  1. Does not involve timetravel.
  2. Does not involve any known Trek Race as the bad guys.

  1. Involves the Ent-E and the Titan working together.
  2. Requires a MEGA space battle that involves a huge Federation fleet that would put the DS9 war episodes to shame.
  3. Introduces a few new characters to replace Ambassador Worf and Data and of course to replace Riker and Troi who will be on the Titan.
I also like the idea that this will be a finale film so at the end Picard will hand over command of the Ent-E to a new Captain who we will get to know during the Movie.

Riker is Captain of the Titan - took him long enough to get there so we show him in the chair and the Titan too! Actually proving himself in his role. Busy helping Romulans with Deanna giving helpful advice etc.

But Roms can't be trusted and factions working against Federation - and Klingons - desperate bid to reassert their superiority lost post Nemesis. This time show Romulans being proper Romulan baddies at their duplicitious best. Part of this faction includes Sela!

Embroil Klingons Federation in a war or the like and none other than Worf is Ambassador to Romulus allowing him to trot out his favourite line: 'Romulans cannot be trusted'

Titan crew or Enterprise crew include characters new and borrowed - not too many one per ship - Tuvok and Nog are the best bets as mentioned. Tuvok XO to Riker perhaps? Nog as mentioned likely to be a new protege for Picard who'd like the symmetry of such an action after his own history with Ferengi.

Picard due to retire as Captain - being promoted to Admiral despite Kirk's warning. On a last leg tour to commerorate his career. Allows characters like O'Brien to be visiting the ship as part of that. Adm Janeway. The new Captain of the Ent-E introduced and flashed out.

During this they learn of Titan fate and Picard against Admiralty orders perhaps rushes off to rescue. Janeway helps to run interference allowing Picard to steal away. Therefore her inclusion not just a nod but doesn't detract from TNG characters.

B4 stuff limited distinctly made clear that his own child-like way not a new Data.

Definitely no Wesley as he's supposed to be off travelling the universe.

Bring closure to Picard and Bev - have them get together or be together and settled.

Lastly, someone dies - actually dies - heroic death or killed by Sela. In fact more than one. Someone early on to shake the audience up to show yup we're bringing closure to this and giving these guys the send off they deserve. Then at end Picard or Riker die allowing for reflection and akin to TUC for ship to fly off into the sunset.

Sela? Oh God no. Cheesiest excuse of a character ever. I'd rather see B4 singing "Blue Skies" and Wesley in a Captain's chair.

^^  :wtf:With those alternative suggestions I take it all back.

actually mentioned Sela because thought it provided some closure for all the cast. In a way having her might detract from having the Rommies as the real bad guys. Though she could be killed off early on - used by her faction as a lure to entrap Riker or Picard. Thus appeasing that part of the audience who feel like you! :p

I've just thought up an idea for a possible movie.

The movie starts from the point of view of a young boy, living on some kind of Romulan slave planet, the planet comes under attack by the Klingons and the Klingons overthrow the Romulans and take control of the planet but the Klingons are just as ruthless and beat, rape and kill people who don't work hard enough. We watch the boy grow up under this oppression and the now teenage boy hears news that the Klingons have signed an alliance with the Federation but nothing changes for him or his people, they are still under ruthless rule of the Klingons.

Basically to cut a long story short, the guy leads a rebellion against the Klingons, the Federation gets involved, they send the Ent-E who think this rebellion is the 'bad guys', the rebellion is angry at the Federation for allowing their planet to be enslaved, the Federation knows nothing about it, Federation and Klingon diplomatic relations quickly sour, Klingon and Federation battles quickly ensue, the Klingon Empire finally backs down and agrees to give freedom to enslaved worlds within their Empire.

Blah blah blah.
