Things you used to be able to do, but are unsure if you still can...

I used to be able to weld with an oxy/acetaylne torch, and could execute a fosbury flop. I have no idea if I can still do either of these things, but I like to think I still can. Anybody else have skills like this that may have atrophied?

Re: Things you used to be able to do, but are unsure if you still can.

I was fluent in ASL (American Sign Language)...at least as fluent as a 5 year old is in any language...as a child. After my hearing was restored, though, I stopped using it, and was young enough to learn English just fine. Aside from a few words and phrases I can't speak ASL anymore.

I also forgot most of the French, Cantonese, and Japanese I learned, but I remembered most of the curse words!

I was a fairly good cellist as a kid (though no prodigy). I was principle cellist of the Seattle Youth Symphony when I was 15. Now I can hardly get through the easiest of the Bach Cello Suites! I think I was young enough when I learned, though, that if I practiced diligently I could pick it up again.

I used to be able to do the splits (both to the side and front-to-back). I think that skill is likely gone forever.

I also used to play guitar and trumpet, though I was never a very good trumpet player. I still own both instruments, so I could probably pick them up again if I set my mind to it.

I used to be able to do calculus. Now it's a struggle.

^Me too. Math is like foreign languages for me: if I'm not using it, it falls out of my head. I can still do mental math and algebra well, but only because I use them all the time.

Far too many to list. I can't do half of what I used to do. Having cerebral palsy, coupled with being over 40 does that to a guy.
