Things you never noticed until now

When I was doing a TNG rewatch there was a thread about things you never noticed before. I used that thread just for little observations and it made the rewatch more interesting. It’s not an episode by episode review but more observations you just realized as you watch.

I’m on Two Days and Two Nighrs now. I never noticed that Michael Dorn directed this episode. I wonder if it was his first one.

Also Porthos is one cute puppy.

Micheal Dorn Directed some Ds9 Episodes . .Alexander Siddig and Avery Brooks.Directed a few Ds9 episodes too.

It’s pretty cool that there were several Trek actors that directed episodes. Besides Dorn, there was Lavarr Burton , Roxanne Dawson and Robert Duncan McNeill. The last three were all involved with more than one episode. And McNeill directed one of my favorites.

I recently watched the blu ray feature on Vox Sola and I was amazed at what they gave to do to get an episode done. I already love that episode but seeing the behind the scenes on it made me appreciate it a whole lot more.

You know coming from a strong Military family, Malcolm had a suicide watch going on in the first two seasons. You had his attitude in Shuttlepod 1, and then I watched Minefield last night (Great episode) and his attitude towards the captain is similar. I'm not sure if he was a good armory officer. I know he got better in the later seasons but man, loosen up a bit.

Considering the amount of notice the captain took of his attempts to safeguard the ship and her personnel, I'm not surprised he was uptight.

Personally I don't think Archer entirely deserves all the dislike he seems to have earned as a character, but he was so heedless - witness the way he also dismissed T'Pol's caution when dashing onto that planet with the psychotropic pollen. His impulsiveness could have had really tragic consequences.

FWIW, former & current cast members directing is a proud Trek tradition. Though sadly, Enterprise is the only series who did not have a cast member direct something.

TOS:
Nimoy = 2 movies. Search for Spock & Voyage Home.
Shatner = 1 Movie. Final Frontier.

TNG:
Frakes: 2 films (First Contact + Insurrection) + 14 episodes (TNG, DS9, VOY) with a Disc coming.
Burton: 28 episodes (TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT).
Stewart: 5 episodes (TNG)
McFadden: 1 episode (TNG)
Dorn: 4 episodes (DS9, ENT)

DS9:
Brooks: 9 episodes (DS9)
Auberjonois: 9 episodes (DS9)
Siddig: 2 episodes (DS9)
Robinson: 3 episodes (DS9, VOY)

VOY:
Dawson: 12 episodes (VOY, ENT)
McNeil: 8 episodes (VOY, ENT)
Picardo: 2 episodes (VOY)
Russ: 1 episode (VOY)
===========
Tally = 5 films & 98 episodes directed by cast members. So far..

Actually, LeVar Burton did 29 episodes... 2 TNG, 10 DS9, 8 VGR, and 9 ENT.

Rene Auberjonois did 8.

It would have been interesting to see Scott Bakula direct. If memory serves me, he directed a couple QUANTUM LEAP episodes.

Dominic Keating wanted to direct an Enterprise episode he had several story ideas for an episode but the powers that be told him no. I remember he mentioned it in several different interviews after Enterprise was canceled.

The Seventh is really an underrated episode. I'm in a stretch with some really not so great episodes right now, but The Seventh really delves into T'Pol's past and her emotions were very much present here. I've found these epsiodes dealing with her past (Also seen in Fusion) are really great. Blalock really did bring a lot to the role and I could easily consider her a very underrated actress when it came to the Vulcans, like Russ, Nimoy, or Lenard

Yeah I really liked the episodes that focused on T'Pol's mysterious past. Her struggle with her emotions makes her an intriguing character. That's one of the reasons I like her And I how she how she confides in Trip and Phlox in the series about her emotions and secrets

Did anyone else notice that Hoshi actually has a binder on her console desk? It looks suspiciously like an instruction manual.

It's a shame Discovery wants to do this Klingon arc because I wish we got more Enterprise references. What happened to the Xindi, what about the denobulans will we get an Archer reference.

Also I'm struggling with season 2 still but Catwalk is a great episode.
