Things you HATED about this show. As much as there are positives about STD there is much CRINGE!

Dislike - lens flares, mini Michael's wig, Klingonese scenes
Like - every thing else

Pretty much spot on...although I didn't notice the lens flares. I'll need to re-watch for that.

Points for "mini-Michael's wig"...that's nice.

Again like enterprise, series and even the the ship seems to b a lot more advance than the original series and even the next generation

Also what is the orange guys deal about his species being able to "sense impending death"? He said something about his species being bred for that purpose.

Stupid premise.

Maybe they were bred (to be killed / eaten) and developed the 6th sense as a defense mechanism?

Klingons are space Vikings - not similar to the Soviet Union.

Soviet Union would be more the Romulans, operating networks of spies with all that clever duplicity stuff.

The Patterns of Force cast the Klingons as the Communists in a proxy fight.

Not everything was great, it has some weaker aspects (the first half was a bit clunky) but there was no cringe as far as I saw. Some stuff I could do without (cough lens flare cough) but overall this was an excellent 2-part premiere.

I am totally sold on the new depictions of the Warriors of Kling.

All in all, if this is the starting point, and it can get better as it goes, this may go down as the best Trek series yet.

Good point, they apparently had a robot crew member, why not send him?
That wasn't a robot, it was a woman in a VR helmet of some sort. You could see her skin when the giant exploding console knocked her to the floor.

Who's to say the robot is capable? Who's to say there's a crew member more resistant? Or as qualified as Burnham?

On TNG, why not just have Data do everything? Because they're a CREW and there is a COMMAND STRUCTURE.

This just strikes me as a nitpick looking for something to criticize.

Naming the show so it is referred to as a STD.......
1 billion lumen lens flare. A 1st officer who assaults the captain. Klingons talking about their feelings.
A stupid ship carrying coffins ? That is again stupid.
Also putting the show on cbs access instead of normal tv channel will mean 99% of the viewers will not see the 2nd episode.

The only two complaints I have so far:

Commander Michael Burnham feels just a tiny bit Mary Sueish. I hope that changes.

The voice of the computer wasn't Majel Barrett-Roddenberry's. Granted, that's no one's fault, but it honestly was the most distinct, noticeable change to me. I suppose because I was already spoiled on the "new" Klingons.

1) too close to home?
2) Drama too much for you?
3) So are your complaints.
4) why do you care who sees the second episode?

Coffin ship was very stupid too. Unnecessary detail. What does it add to the story that they hitch dead bodies to the hull of their ship?

The point of that was to allow for the torpedo being tractored into the ship at the end. It was a set up for a later payoff. Those things are important in a story.

Aaahhh, the old Mary Sue. She totally and royally f%^&ed up, her plan failed, she couldn't save her Captain, she got thrown in the brig, court martialed, and sentenced to life in prison-- how is she a Mary Sue?

Oh I know how: she's a woman, and "Mary Sue" is the trendy buzz term when you don't like that the lead is a female character.
