Things To Fix

That would be the one in Aluminium!

:)

Seriously though, any idea where that "i" disappears to in the pronunciation?

...the same place it goes in the spelling - the Atlantic Ocean! We don't add the extra "i" over here. BTW, didn't we invent aluminum, anyway? Therefore, our spelling and pronunciation are correct. I think we'll have to invade you over this dispute! Oh, I forgot...GW Bush is no longer our President...

Didn't the phasers come out of the wrong place in "The Arsenal of Freedom", too?

There are a few shots where crew and/or equipment is visible. There's one shot of Lwaxana Troi looking into a mirror in her quarters and you can see the boom mic in the mirror, though I can't recall the episode right now. Crew reflected in the glass statue in Sela's office in "Unification" and on the reflective tape on the Iconian control console in "Contagion". Of those, however, if I were the guy in charge, I would only paint out the boom mic. The others are hardly noticeable. And fun to look for. :D

The wrist watch Beverly wears on he transporter pad just after tasha was killed has to go.

It's quite anachronistic for today let alone the 24th century.

Yeah. Replace it with a cellphone that falls out of her pocket and clatters across the floor.

Wouldn't that make it the Atlantiic Ocean?

Apparently it was disovered by a Dane...
And it seems that both spellings are legitimate variants, although I get a lot more Google hits with the British version. Draw from that what conclusions you will ;)

Hey, I've learned a lot about this element in the last few days, thanks! :)

Before I came back here this morning, I checked to see how wrong I was about aluminium:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aluminum

Completely wrong, as it turns out! It was not only not invented by an American, it wasn't invented by a human at all! It's the most common element in the Earth. And, the USA is the only country where it's spelled w/out the "i." Sort of like being the only country that still uses the old measurement system, but we do it half way. Some packages mix both metric and Standard measurements, probably to confuse consumers.

The only thing I was correct about in my previous post was the fact that GW Bush is not longer POTUS, and the world is a better place for it, although it should have happened 4 years earlier.

So, I've really topped my record for posting hugely erroneous info!

I can't recall specific episodes at the moment, but I seem to recall a lot of times, noticing that when someone fires a hand phaser, the beam doesn't quite seem to line up with the angle of the phaser. That could probably be fixed up.

I think that's why the hand phasers were ditched in later seasons and series in the first place.

I certainly don't object (as I said its been educational) - although we may have veered the thread slightly off topic!

...if TNG were gone back to to fix, what would you have fixed?

I don't mean the crappy changing of special effects and other things they did with the controversial TOS remastering

but legitimate mistakes.
I am enjoying this thread. The title leaves something to be desired as I don't think many people will read it and they may think of it as nitpicking versus as if there were a TNG-R done it would be done for Blu-ray & future syndication in high definition and the visual effect shots would all be redone.
It's been discussed here
Star Trek TNG Remastered?
of some of the additional errors to fix along with extensive discussion of the visual effects.

To change the dialogue from a legitimate error canon continuity would require dialogue re-edited and the subtitles changed as well as the sound for that shot/scene remixed. It's not impossible as Paramount/CBS Television saved the sound stems of dialogue, music, effects and that is how the 5.1 mix was done for the DVD.
For them to have to cull through original dialogue recordings from the actors to locate the words to fix it would be the real time consumer. No actors would not be recalled just to do half and hour of ADR looping [or narration for a 'Captain's log'] for a few episodes fixing.

I know my thread is old, but I found a new one thanks to recent Sc-Fi channel re-runs:

"A Fist Full of Datas"

It's been probably ten years since I've seen this episode, so I went ahead and watched it in re-runs a few days ago, even though I knew the jist of it and that it was boring. I had, however, forgotten the ending, so I didn't know what exactly would happen.

The ending came up (right before Data running downstairs dressed like that fat lady) and Worf, his son, and I think Troi, were standing there, when suddenly I see this long black object move into the bottom left of the screen. I thought maybe there was someone hiding with a gun or some kind and Worf was about to shoot down one last baddie, turns out it might have been a boom mic. That fucker needs to go.

If you can consider transferring the episodes to videotape as a mistake, I'll go with that one...

RAMA

If I could change one thing filming wise, it would be to give enough light to the courtroom set in Encounter at Farpoint, it looks like someone's finger is on the lens, or they are trying to film it like a silent film! The frame closes in on itself throughout the act.

The Vengeance Factor.

I think it's morally incompatible with Riker's character for him to kill Yuta in that way. They should photoshop a phaser into her hand, have her shoot first at point-blank range, but miss. Then Riker can go ahead and shoot her.

Why? All Yuta had to do was touch Chorgan and he was dead, her weapon was in her DNA.

Unification Pt2
When Spock, Data, and Picard leave Sela's Office they should remove the reflection of the guy you can see in the crystal on the table.

If money were no object, I'd re-do all the special effects as CGI and add collars (and pants where necessary) to all the uniforms in season one and two.

 Yeh menwearing miniskirts was bizzare whatever century it was it'sin. Also they could give Picard some hair.

oops didnt mean to double post.

I would most certainly add some scenery to the planet in Hide and Q. Q literally transported the crew to a badly designed sound stage.
