Things that frustrate us all

Have you seen the movie, or just going of descriptions you've read?

Maybe it's splitting hairs, but when I watched the movie, they seemed quite clear that Garrett was not part of Section 31 itself, but was a Starfleet liaison assigned to keep them in line. So she worked with the group, but didn't belong to the group. If that helps.
 
Got a spam call claiming to be from my online pharmacy, with an "important message." I hung up as soon as I found out what company they claimed to be from. Using the number I have in my cell for the company, I called the online pharmacy, and verified they made no contact attempts. I see it was a Walmart gift card scam listed on Robokiller.

Also, I guess it's probably more of a neurodiverse thing, but I get really frustrated when I genuinely want to understand why we do something at work the way we do it because I figure if I knew the reasoning, I'd be able to better align with our goals, and people just immediately assume I'm challenging them. To be fair, I've grown up with parents who were the same, so at least I've learned to expect it.

My first job after the USN was at an aerospace company. It was like that all the time in programs that had a lot of security clearance levels. I was a Quality Assurance Engineer, and me and one of the inspectors had the highest clearance on the floor, and it was frustrating because we weren't able to explain to a lower cleared manufacturing worker why they couldn't do something the way they normally did it, because they weren't even allowed to know there were higher clearance levels in the program. They had to follow the planning book instructions, and not do it the way they were used to performing the task.
 
Today I get a toll payment scam text misspelling a word and missing punctuation. "Final alert:Immediate Payment Required (sic) Your toll payment is overdue. Settle ur (sic) balance by February 19, 2025 to avoid potential legal action." Followed with a link, so the scammer can get your banking/credit card data. "Act now to prevent penalties. 0218-8924OBA836......"

I checked my FasTrack account using their actual website, and show no activity for the past six months. I haven't crossed a toll bridge since September 2021. Then I call the customer service from the number on their website. They have an outgoing recording that there are numerous scams and FasTrack will never ask for payments via text.

Fortunately, I don't make payments via text, or use contact information in a text. I also have my phone not give me audible notification for texts, just a blue dot. This text came in before 7 am local time.

I seem to be at a bit of a plateau. My wife has a VERY bad cough....the Covid has definitely targeted her lungs, where it has not mine. I am doing percussion on her back a couple times a day, plus we are sitting in the bathroom with hot shower running a couple times a day, for the steam. I have really been wrestling with that because of lime scale in the system. We have been consuming honey and herbal teas and plenty of spring water.

Neighbors on both sides of us in the apartment complex are sick. New ones just moved in above us yesterday. Don't know their condition yet....no one has wanted to meet them and expose them to what we have.

My wife talked to a doctor on the phone yesterday and the biggest takeaway from that was basically to stay out of the emergency room at the hospital unless something is imminently life-threatening. All I could think of was The Voyage Home: "Avoid the planet Earth, at all costs!"

I've never seen a winter this bad for all kinds of sickness....and this is a very small town.

Best wishes for your wife. I hope you got vaccinated; you can't help her if you're laid up as well.
 
Ordered something online in January. It was supposed to show up a week ago. Amazon claims it's been shipped but hasn't arrived, then it says it arrived on January 31st. I suspect it's been delivered to Alberta or Saskatchewan or somewhere weird that isn't where I live at all.
 
I'm so done with doctors who keep trying cut back my sleeping medication because it's "not healthy". Newsflash, nothing is healthy anymore: the sun causes cancer and the air is polluted.

Besides, my sleeping pills is the only thing that stands between me and insomnia due to all the insecurity I have in my life right now. And when I told my doctor that, she said the same thing my incompetent job coach said: "but life is full of insecurity".

I know there will always be insecurity, but it's giving me anxiety and that causes my insomnia if I don't take my sleeping pills. And you can't understand that that's on you! So give me my pills and leave me be

Amazon showed up yesterday. Guess what they delivered? NOT MY CD! This is getting ridiculous! The site won't even tell us when it's expected to show up!

We are both immunocompromised. We have never had any of the vaccines, because we could not take them. Actually, the way our two particular bodies are, I think the vaccines would have been a big mistake.

We are hanging in there. So far, no fevers topping 100. My wife's cough is bad, but she is managing for the moment. We've got vitamin C and Progresso reduced sodium chicken noodle soup going, along with everything else. I have a can every morning for breakfast, with honey and black pepper in it.

My senses of taste and smell came back 100% several days ago and have remained. Never lost my appetite. My lungs have remained completely clear, which is a big help. It's odd for me not to have a stuffed-up head whatsoever with something like this. Always, in the past, the least bit of a cold or flu and I would be stuffed-up like mad for days.

Covid is a very weird, very individual-centered beastie!
