Things that frustrate us all

I'm soooooo pissed right now, my work told me that I would work at different departments before I get to work on the department I wanted to work after three weeks vacation.

But the problem is I've been to a different department ONCE! Next week I'm furloughed for the majority of the week because I have to work for ONE DAY!!!

The week after that is the last week for the vacation, even if I get to work in three different departments I can't decide based on four days of work! In what world is that possible? So the possibility is that I can work in my dream department AFTER the holidays!

I'm sooooo done with this bullshit, I'm going to work at my dream place, I don't care if it means I have to study again and it will cost me a lot of money. I have to find a different job, it's not good for my sanity or my wallet if I stay there

Well, it's July 2nd and we have our first candidate of the month for the Darwin Awards.
Customer calls this afternoon and asks if we do tire rotations and how much it costs.
"If you purchased the tires through Pep Boys, then the rotation is free. Otherwise, it's $11.99 per tire."
"I'd like to do a tire rotation. Do you have time to do it today?"
"It's too late to do it today. I can schedule it for tomorrow. What time do you want to bring it in? We open as early as 8am."
"Can I bring it in around 10am?"
"10am works. I need some information from you - Name, address, phone number, vehicle and why you need an alignment."
"Well, I'm from Florida. I'm here visiting my sister. I'll give you her address."
Okay. Get name, phone number, address, and vehicle. Then I ask this question, "Why do you need your tires rotated?"
"My 'tire rotation' light is on the dashboard."
Pause.
"Your 'tire rotation' light? There's no such thing as a 'tire rotation' light. There's a 'check oil', 'check engine', or 'low tire' light. Can you describe the light and how long it's been on?"
Based on the description the customer tells me it's the 'low tire' light.
"That's the 'low tire' light. That means you either have a slow leak or a bad TPMS sensor. How long has this 'low tire' light been on?"
"Since I left Florida."
"Well, I'm going to change this appointment from a tire rotation to a 'check TMPS sensor' and/or 'flat repair' and we'll see you tomorrow at 10am." (And hope that the customer hasn't destroyed the tire by driving three thousand miles on a flat.)
I swear they're getting dumber.

I am the 4th of July's version of Ebenezer Scrooge. It's a habit I just can't shake. :sigh:

Not only do I fucking hate fireworks and I fully support banning private ownership and use of them, but my neighborhood gets so bad on that day that - yes, this is true - I have to get a hotel room. Otherwise I don't sleep a wink.

And if my managers think I have a bad attitude NOW, just wait until something keeps me up all night.

Or destroyed both the tire and wheel. I always keep a full size spare, torque wrench and floor jack in my vehicles.

I live in area that has banned fireworks and don't even let you use the California approved "safe and sane" (leave the ground or explode) variety, but that brings all those out who set off every kind of explosive. I am watering the yard around the house in case any lands to prevent fires. I use a 20 inch box fan on a table and a window mounted airconditoner in my bedroom. If the noise gets too loud outside, I can turn the fan to takeoff speed. Constant white noise for the win.

Y'all were probably thinking I was joking when I said I want all private ownership and use of fireworks banned.

I wasn't.

You want to see fireworks, go and see a show. Leave it to the professionals. People simply can't be trusted with this sort of thing.

The 4th of July is Americans' expression of their love for their country? Fine. I get that. Then the country gets to tell you how to celebrate it. Deal with that.

OK, I will preface this by saying I am a little weird. But all I can imagine now is you being visited by three spirits the night before the Fourth of July, to teach you the true meaning of Independence Day.

MLB throws open his window on the morning of the 4th:

MLB: You there, lad! What day is it?

Random kid: Why, it's the fourth of July, sir!

MLB: Then it's not too late! Here, take this. Run to the trailer in the mall parking lot, and get me the biggest, loudest, most explodey firework you can find! Quickly!

I don't have an artistic bone in my body, but here are some AI interpretations for your enjoyment. (With apologies to all of the actual artists reading this.)

(Of course it's Lincoln. I mean, why wouldn't it be?)

The Ghost of Independence Day Present:

The Ghost of Independence Day Yet to Come:

Anyway, this was all just in fun. @Mr. Laser Beam , I hope you have a peaceful, firework-free night, and Happy Fourth of July to all our American members!

Go for it. I live next to a state that has banned them. I see police all over all night providing citations.

Hasn't stopped anything.

The way AZ handles fireworks is stupid, you can buy them but you can't fire them off. Were the people who made the law really naive enough to think people would buy, but then not fire them? I guess the idea was supposed to be that you could buy them at home and go somewhere where they're allowed and fire them off, but nobody actually does that.
I absolutely hate fireworks, I'm sensitive to loud noises, and our dogs absolutely freak out over them. And I feel bad for all of the other animals around who are freaked out by them, several of the sanctuaries I support had videos of their people trying to keep their animals calm, and I've seen tons of stuff about all of the ways they affect wildlife. And on top of that they can be pretty traumatizing for people with PTSD and other people who have sensor issues.
I really wish more places would switch over to drone shows, I've seen some videos of them and I find them much more impressive than fireworks.

I guess like Nevada, they expect those of us from California will travel there to buy what isn't available locally, and take them back to California to set the fireworks, and our state on fire.

When companies don't fix their websites especially if they are vital ones to pay bills or loans. Then you try to pay bill by phone and its the exact same deal. I had to write a letter to the loan company to ask them to send me paper bills from now on. Hopefully they will listen. But if they no longer do that then I am screwed. The phone said they sent me into collections. Argh!

Companies that don't seem to have the same answers for the same questions. It changes depending on who you talk too. Argh!

On the topic of fireworks, my town seems to love fireworks and I even here them in the wintertime. Ones not in the summer I check if there is a holiday and it never is. It doesn't anger me, I just think it's weird. I know dogs go crazy when their are fireworks. I don't have a dog myself though.

Do you know someone who has like a PhD, and makes decisions that makes you go: how are you so stupid?" Take my mother, she has decided to renovate her house, while divorcing, and is going to retire in four years. And she studied law!

I hope she learned from her experience from renovating her bathroom, and didn't post a question on her facebook if her friends know a good company to renovate. The guy who did the renovations of her bathroom turned out to be an amateur

Financial literacy is very much an acquired skill and people don't really have it.

And, PhD doesn't automatically mean smart. I mean, smart in one field, but not in every aspect of life.

Intersection had no power and for the most part drivers were treating it like a four-way stop. However, the driver behind me -- who saw that I had stopped and the car in front of me had stopped -- just blew through it right behind me.

It's not just dogs, it's all animals, even wild animals will get hurt, or abandon their babies, or eat the debris. And on the domesticated side, all of the sanctuaries I follow, which are most goats, horses, and pigs all had to bring in extra help to keep their animals calm.
Even out here where I live a couple years ago, a lady I know's horse freaked out and got his foot stuck in his hay net on either the 4th of July or NYE, and the last time I saw her a few months ago, he was still dealing issues from the incident.
And on the human side people, people with PTSD and who are sensitive to loud noises, like me, can't handle them.
At one point on Thursday night, we had them going off in four different directions, and it sounded like we were in the middle of a war zone.

If she has access to the Better Business Bureau or a site like Angi, that would be the best way find a good person for a job like that.
