Things that frustrate us all

So, I've been wearing a mask whenever I'm in a crowded place or indoors with other people, but not when I'm just walking or running around my own neighborhood, because it's very easy to distance there. I was out running and passed this old lady today, I took probably a 15-20 foot wide circle around her, and she still yells at me "WEAR A MASK!"

Obviously, she's one of those people who read those early articles about transmitting from joggers from before we learned what level contact you actually need to transmit, then never read any of the later articles that said the requirement for transmission was more like facing each other within six feet without a mask for 15 minutes. The way social media is scaring the overly anxious by selectively sharing the most frightening articles even if they've been later debunked is turning well meaning people into obnoxious sanctimonious asses.

I was never even within 15 feet of her.

I ordered a T-shirt online after Googling the specific design I wanted. The company said they would ship it UPS, but it was UPS until it reached my area and then it was transferred to the post office. Because I live in a MUD district, our mail goes from the town post office to the annex post office. The package was transferred a week ago, but I still haven't received it and there's no longer a way for me to track it. Stuff like this happens all the time.

It takes mail less time to cross all of Texas than it does to cross our suburb .

But they have decided that we can't sing yet. And, while I understand, I'm heartbroken over it.
Maybe you could hum? With the mask that's possible and no germs get spread.

I wanted to send Ghostie a book but at the post office I was told that atm only priority parcels can reach the US (because of the harbours being closed). Sent as priority parcel, the book would cost more than 60$ - about the price of 50 priority letters. I'm afraid Ghostie will have to wait a few more weeks for her book.
But on Wednesday I have a business trip along the Austrian border and shall ask at an Austrian post office how much they charge for a priority parcel. Maybe they have lower rates. =)

This again....
The traps they sell at the hardware store don't do anything. The ants just ignore them!

Kor
Best of luck to you. Ants are such a pain in the ass.

We had that problem. Turns out they were coming in under the kitchen sick, in a little tiny gap by the pipes. We filled the little hole and sprayed around the house with Home Defense bug spray. Worked like a charm .

But it took weeks to finally find where they were coming in. The little bastards.

That people live places where the summer high temperatures are like 52F degrees
About 11Cdegrees. Where are they're 97-100F days??:censored:
It's actually only 88 right now ~6:PM
My neighbor's are burning yard debris so I can't use my swamp cooler.:censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored:

Am I reading this correctly? The thing that frustrates you isn't that it's too hot where you are, but rather that some people who you don't even know may happen to live somewhere where they don't experience the same level of "too hot" that you do?

Did you photoshop that avatar or actually put a mask on your cat?

There are flies in my kitchen today. I have no idea why. I keep it very clean. I guess, the garbage was a bit overflowed so the kid was open. And maybe some beer cans in recycling weren’t rinsed well enough. But why now then? What is attracting them?

When I see something moving around in the room I can’t help but be distracted by it.

Did you photoshop that avatar or actually put a mask on your cat?

Me personally, neither. It's just an image I found online.

As to how the image was originally made, unless someone created a custom cat-sized mask, then I would think it would have to be photoshopped, because a regular mask would cover a cat's entire face. But it's a much better photoshop than I could ever do.

Just recently i saw a video about US citizens actively mocking mask wearing people by making coughing or retching gestures and noises to spite them.

It actually made me really angry to see this - even if you think wearing a mask is useless why antagonize and mock people who do? This is just the lowest of the low and completely beyond the pale.

*pictures @Kor setting up thousands of pinhead-sized iron foothold traps* :guffaw:

My ants and I have a treaty: I feed them with a bit of my kitchen waste in one particular spot and they leave the rest of my garden alone. A win/win situation. Only at the subject of greenfly-farms we still have a slight disagreement. Blackcurrant juice is apparently acceptable but not as good as greenfly juice. I'll try Maracuja next.

Yes, what's wrong with that?
They don't really even know what summer is about. Why does it bother you about what bothers me?
Why are you making comments about something that bothers me, as if I'm not permitted to have an opinion?

It was 104 degrees where Iive yesterday. Be thankful you don't have to put up with that.

Got a slow leak on a car tyre. Ok, simple, pop it off, find out where the leak is and get a replacement tyre if it's the tyre rather than the alloy.

Nope. All the nuts are out, but the tyre won't frickin shift, even with help:(.

Going to wait til it's a bit drier (Don't need the car for a few days) and try some of the methods listed to loosen it:(

Yes, what's wrong with that?

Nothing specifically "wrong" with that. I just found it unusual, and wanted to make sure I was understanding you correctly.

They don't really even know what summer is about.

This is the part I don't get. So? A lot of people from the southern US don't really even know what winter is about. I may be envious of them for not having to endure it, but I'm not bothered or annoyed by them not having the same experiences I do.

Why does it bother you about what bothers me?

It doesn't bother me; I was just trying to understand your POV.

Why are you making comments about something that bothers me

Because this is a discussion board and that's what we do? This whole thread is full of people making comments on other peoples' posts.

as if I'm not permitted to have an opinion?

No one said that. If it bothers you, it bothers you. I may not understand why, but that doesn't invalidate how you feel about it.

I'm envious. I think I wished my ancestors had never left Ireland and Scotland.

Went out to our local indoor mall so I could get a good walk in, without dying from heat stroke. I really need the exercise but I can't take this awful heat-- not to mention the mosquitoes. Also did a little shopping at Bath & Bodyworks; they were having a sale, so I picked up some of my favorite shower gel and a few of those tiny packs of hand sanitizers, at a good price. When I got home, the phone rang; it was an automated call from the county judge. My county is at "level red": we are going back into shutdown tomorrow. They asked that everyone stay home, except for work, groceries or medicine. Well....crap. I guess it's good I went out when I did because that little mall-walk will have to last me for a while.

^what you need is a big fridge powered by an treadmill inside. This way you can take long walks in the cold :)

What really annoys me atm is that over here the Corona safety measures get reduced more and more. In my region the infection rates are rising again and we expect a new infection wave when the holiday makers return from abroad.
The Corona virus can hit the brain and cause a sort of encephalitis. But with some people it appears to have trouble hitting such a tiny target...
