Things that frustrate us all

My mortgage lender never sent me a paper bill this month. I'm trying to pay online but they made it insanely hard to figure out how to actually set up the accounts to do that. I'm trying to use the online bill pay from my bank, but you need the mailing address I would send the checks to which I can't find anywhere on my previous bills except the forms you mail in with them. I tried asking for help online but all I get is a generic response. I'm going to have to actually call a person today to figure this out. It's absurd how difficult they have made this.
And the irony is the whole point of paying bills online is to make things "easier". I've had similar trouble with bills that went paperless. Took forever to straigthen out. And their phone operators set up to "help" you usually have the IQ of a house plant. Their conversation is typically peppered with "Oh, uh, um, I don't know sir...." Fucking idiots.

I hate the 21st century.

Pretty understandable--anyone would be freaked the fuck out. I hope you can get to a specialist and get a straight answer soon.
Things that don't frustrate,
When you think you're going to die, then the doctor calls back and says that the radiologist says that your fracture is healing okay and you can not wear your plastic boot cast unless you are standing or walking and that you get to wean off of wearing it.
Yippee!!!!!

I think I was born under a strange sign. It said "this person will have things randomly fall on or near her just because". This time I was walking by the side of our house and my husband had piled many (many) bags of cement. Well they were under a makes sift kind of wood pile table. And I saw two were leaking all over. So I had to move the top one on this pile and the bag just fell apart and covered me head to toe in cement dust. I was wearing shorts, a short sleeve shirt and garden shoes with holes in them and no socks. (anyone know if it is bad to breathe in a ton of cement and get covered with it?) I would have made a good statue. Well I had to move many more and they got all over the ground, I am so glad it is not going to rain for the next few days. I picked up what I could and I am hoping for the best. I could go on all days with the things that fall on or near me! My life is so odd...

When your bosses are pleased with your performance on a type of project that you absolutely wanted nothing to do with in the first place, so they decide that you will be handling all of those from now on. :scream:

Been there:(

I think they've gotten to the point where they know I detest that project, but am still stuck with it:(

Yes, it is bad to breathe in cement dust.

I am so freakin' tired. Got up at 6:30 am to start work at 7:15am. Then the floor guys showed up at 9:30 am. They were supposed to show at 10am---tomorrow. But, they were here, so we let them get started. Hubby and I worked upstairs in the loft space while the floor guys ripped out all the carpet & vinyl downstairs...and cut the trim, sanded down all the concrete and ripped the carpet off the stairs. Holy CRAP, that was loud. Fucking hell. It was very loud but I managed to get through my shift pretty well. Was done by 3pm. Hubby had to go into the office to get some equipment, but he'll have to work from home again tomorrow. I'll probably just hide in the bedroom with Junior. Poor cat is *really* not happy with us right now.

They really demo'ed the place, which is good. But now I have no kitchen to cook in, since they took out the oven to put new floor in underneath it.

They are coming back at 8 am tomorrow. With any luck, we can get the downstairs finished tomorrow. Then the stairs and loft space upstairs shouldn't take that long.

I am so tired, I don't even know what to do with myself.

Today I learned I can beat this.

When you are swiped from a position you know and are performing very well in, placed in a position you do not want and are not trained for, your boss essentially stops communicating with you after a month, despite having an office adjacent, and you’re not assigned any more of the work you were swiped to do, so to any outside observer you appear useless.

Months later you finally find out that they swiped you for a skill set they never bothered to ask if you actually HAD (Thanks, HR!) And just when you try to improve that by adding to your skill set, Signing up for classes, the pandemic hits and you can’t.

Then you get transferred back.
Then your performance review is emailed to you, and they SHIT on you.

The Associated Press has an official YouTube channel. One of their videos is titled: "Mother receives 99 years in prison for gluing child's hands together." The woman nearly beat her two-year-old daughter to death, in addition to gluing her hands to the wall. Are they trying to click bait? That would be like saying, "Ted Bundy sentenced to death for pretending to be a police officer." Whoever came up with that title is horrible.

My failing memory is both frustrating and an irritant. I turned on my laptop with the intention to log onto the internet to look up something specific, but while waiting for the computer to load, whatever it was I wanted to do went right out of my head. I must be getting old.....

People completely ignoring the directional arrows on the floor in a small shop and walking right in front of you while you're in the middle of picking up an order at the counter.

Back in February, our apartment manager had an electrician in here 5 times, because the kitchen electrical circuit that the refrigerator was on suddenly started repeatedly tripping. The whole circuit breaker box was changed out, then the fridge was replaced. No go. Still kept happening. The manager consulted with the owner of the apartment complex. They were in a quandary over whether to try a different electrician, or just how to approach the problem. Then Covid-19 came along. In the meantime, we had adapted by moving the fridge into the living room, to a different electrical circuit, and keeping that kitchen circuit completely shut down. On the different circuit, the fridge has been just fine and that circuit has not tripped once.

The weirdest thing is that in the kitchen we were getting mold on the exteriors of the cabinets that was growing very rapidly. We had to clean that about every other day. Since we have had that faulty circuit shut down, there has been no more mold on the cabinets. None. In 6 months!

Okay....so, with the coming of Covid-19 the policy here has been that no maintenance or repair people will enter apartments unless it is an absolute emergency situation. It was agreed that our adaptation of having the fridge in the living room and keeping the faulty kitchen circuit shut down was a reasonable stop-gap measure.

Well....the next thing that happened was that the exhaust fan in the bathroom started coming on by itself at odd times when no one was in there. I took the faceplate off of the wall to check the switch. There are two settings on that to run it on automatic, if you choose to do so. Both were turned off. So, the fan should not be coming on by itself. For now, we have adapted to that by shutting down the bathroom circuit every night when we go to bed.

Then....the flow of water for the tub and shower suddenly reduced to a tiny trickle. I checked everything possible, short of tearing walls apart, but could not find the problem. So, I bought a short length of garden hose to connect to the sink faucet to fill the tub. That turned out to be slightly short, so I duct-taped a section of vacuum cleaner tube onto the end of the hose to make up the difference... kind of cool, because it reminds me of what they had to do with Apollo-13. :D

In the middle of all of this, the woman in the apartment directly above us has a 3-year-old daughter who has very serious behavioral problems. She can not walk in the apartment like a normal person. She runs back and forth all day long. She has repeated temper-tantrums. But she also does a lot of stomping and kicking just because. The mother is extremely weak-willed. On the few occasions when she works up a small amount of courage and attempts some minor discipline, the kid hits her. We hear all of this. When the noise level became completely intolerable, we confronted her. She said, "I don't have a man here to help me!" What do you say to something like that? Here it is 2020, with women working very hard to demolish the yoke of all of the patriarchal bullshit in society....and this woman, who happens to be a nurse by the way, hides behind the excuse of not having a man around to help her! My wife and I were absolutely dumbfounded.

The problem for us is that it has been quite uncanny that just prior to each and every one of these electrical and plumbing problems has been an incident of the kid stomping and kicking very vigorously. It is amazing what one 3-year-old kid can cause. Sometimes, when she has been strongly at it, we have heard things cracking in the space between our ceiling and their floor. A few times, our windows have been close to cracking. The vibrations have set off our smoke detectors at various times. The apartment manager doesn't seem to want to believe that the kid is responsible for the problems we have been having in our apartment....but when asked how she would explain the timing of things, she has no theory except coincidence. Well....that"s a lot of them.

She has threatened the woman with a noise violation, and the woman has been taking the kid to her mother's a bit more, but the situation hasn't changed much.

The latest here? There is a 'retaining wall' here at this apartment complex that is composed of old railroad ties. They have deteriorated in the 32 years or so that they have been here. They are now full of nests of bees. Multiple species. Yellow jackets. Large hornets. Wasps. They keep spraying, but the spray does not penetrate far enough to be effective. To get to the parking lot, mail boxes, trash dumpster, etc, you have to go up and down stairs that are right next to the railroad ties with all of the bees nests. I have been stung by large yellow jackets twice in the past two weeks. That has brought on bouts of beekeeper's arthritis. That has only lasted a couple of days, in both cases, but I have no idea if more stings will make that a longer-lasting problem. Kids here are, of course, at even greater risk. Plenty run around with shorts and no shirt in this hot weather. The playground and picnic area are very close to the trash dumpster....where a lot of the bees congregate.

The manager says that she and the property owner are considering options for dealing with the problem of the bees in the old railroad ties.

Well....serious action is needed very soon.

If one of the children here were to be swarmed by a whole bunch of the bees at once...

Frustration? Yeah, just a wee bit....
