Happy belated birthday. It was. Two days ago. Thank you anyway!
when a vendor doesn't have the change for your banknote... and you don't have other means of payment because you canceled your credit cards that you thought were stolen but turns out were just misplaced... and he doesn't take checks!!
Our “local” bus company issues IOUs when they have no change.
The ticket can be redeemed at company offices, or when you board another bus, but that doesn’t help when you needed the change to buy your lunch.I don't believe we have that.

Don’t you have debit in France? I hardly ever even have physical cash with me anymore. (Which is a little embarrassing when they come around with unannounced charitable fundraising at the office, but other than that, I don’t miss it.)

A credit card is where you borrow money to pay on the card, a debit card pays with your own money direct from your current account. Is it like a credit card or is that something else entirely?

Some of the pubs I go (UK) won't accept debit or credit cards for less than a certain value. There's also vending machines and one of the parking meters I have to use. (A lot of others take phone or card, but this particular one doesn't)
(I call them all credit cards which is obviously an abuse of language).
I don’t go to bars, but there is the occasional place that has a minimum transaction amount. Usually it’s something really low, like $5, that you’re probably going to be over anyway.

no, just 2 coolers. Dry ice would have evaporated from the box and propably triggered an alarm. That's a well-travelled sample. Did you have some dry ice in with it?
