Things that frustrate us all

when a vendor doesn't have the change for your banknote... and you don't have other means of payment because you canceled your credit cards that you thought were stolen but turns out were just misplaced... and he doesn't take checks!!

Our “local” bus company issues IOUs when they have no change.

I’m on layover in Chicago, waiting for my flight to Boston, and United has just changed gates on me FOR THE FOURTH FUCKING TIME.

Don’t you have debit in France? I hardly ever even have physical cash with me anymore. (Which is a little embarrassing when they come around with unannounced charitable fundraising at the office, but other than that, I don’t miss it.)

Can't escape the work management group chat. "I'm in my pyjamas lol", "I just had roast for dinner haha" FUCK OFF.

And I can't mute it because sometimes important work stuff comes up...

Some of the pubs I go (UK) won't accept debit or credit cards for less than a certain value. There's also vending machines and one of the parking meters I have to use. (A lot of others take phone or card, but this particular one doesn't)

Is it like a credit card or is that something else entirely?

A credit card is where you borrow money to pay on the card, a debit card pays with your own money direct from your current account.

Well, then I canceled both kinds, they were all in the wallet I thought was stolen (I call them all credit cards which is obviously an abuse of language). Talk about fouling up!!

I don’t go to bars, but there is the occasional place that has a minimum transaction amount. Usually it’s something really low, like $5, that you’re probably going to be over anyway. Places that deal in small transactions regularly, like coffee shops, don’t seem to care.

There are two parking lots that I go to semi-regularly that don’t take cards. It’s always a hassle arranging to get money when I have to go there.

The one and only no-debit independent shop that I sometimes visit, had held out for years, but they FINALLY got a debit machine last summer. Makes going there so much simpler!

We’ll let it slide.... this time. :shifty:

;)

I thought I gained weight which was a bit upsetting as I didn't feel any different from usual but as it turned out, I was the victim of a malfunctioning bathroom scale!!! I've lived a long time without one and from now on I will return to that former status... Damn that stupid scale!!

Most of the shops don't seem to mind so much, but one of the pubs I'm thinking of probably works out at about 12 dollars at the current exchange rate. On the other hand, I've used a card for about 40cents before now on one of the self service till at the supermarket .

Happy belated birthday, @Kilana2 ! Have a glorious year full of fun and laughter, may you meet only friendly and gentle people and may no evil like taxes, DHL or headcolds befall you!

That's a well-travelled sample. Did you have some dry ice in with it?
no, just 2 coolers. Dry ice would have evaporated from the box and propably triggered an alarm.
btw, the sample is still in Holland. 8 days for an express parcel to be delivered within 24 hours is propably a new entry for DHL's hall of in-fame... We've started a betting pool. A sample from Ingolstadt got also misplaced and biologists all over Europe are now betting on where it'll be found (Greenland appears to be the favourite atm) and which sample will arrive in Geneva first (my one has slightly better odds).
Currently, gallows humour is our last ressort. Though I understand that the colleague from Serbia is considering use of heavy weapons after trying to wrestle a sample of 10 clams in alcohol from the customs for 4 days now.
