Things that frustrate us all

I hope it feels better soon. Have you ever been to a chiropractor?

No.

While one of my cousins in South Dakota is a chiropractor, I've always been a little afraid of them, what with the nickname, "bone-crackers". I've also heard horror stories of people being permanently injured by chiropractors.

there is indeed a risk if you get treated by one who isn't thoroughly trained. But if you get an expert, it is a very pleasant experience that leaves you feeling like you got a totally new body =)
A good chiropractor starts at the bottom of the spine and slowly works his way up. He doesn't use brute force but applies gentle pressure or pull. Only the vertebrae in the chest may require a stronger pressure to snap into their correct position.
My old GP was a true master in this field but at 90 he simply can't do it anymore. I'd urgently need a chiropractor (for weeks a slipped lumbar vertebra is pinching a leg nerve and causing cramps and pains) but can't find a decent one in my vicinity :(

The sweat shirt could indeed be responsible for the neck problems. Even though it's soft, you still slept in an unnatural position and the muscles started cramping. The cramps themselves can cause more cramps in neighbouring muscles. It'll take several days till they all calm down. You can support the irritated tissue with warm showers, relaxing ointments and massages.
The way you describe the problem I'd exclude a spinal stenosis. For the neck to hurt, you'd have to pinch a nerve between the uppermost 2 vertebrae - that's something that may happen in violent accidents but almost never occurs by normal wearout. I'm not certain if a stenosis that far up is anatomically possible as the first 2 vertebrae are shaped differently from the others.

"How old are you?"

"I injured myself sleeping."

Hopefully it gets better soon. :(

Do you have walk-in medical clinics in your area? For something like that, they may be able to see you quicker than in an ER. Granted, I have no idea how that all works with the American pay-for-use system.

Yup, we do have Urgent Care clinics. I'm worried that if something is seriously wrong that they won't have the facilities to properly treat me, or even give a useful diagnosis.

Either way, I'm considering going to an Urgent Care or an ER.

Heinz is apparently launching a product in Canada in May which is a combination ketchup/mayonnaise... which they imaginatively call "mayochup".

Add some Worcestershire and a dash of lemon and you have your classic Marie Rose seafood sauce. Find a champagne saucer load it with iceberg and shrimps, saturate in sauce and hello 1970's (or frankly your local Chinese Restaurant appetiser menu). Yummy.

My neighbours on one side are driving me to distraction. Their friggin' music! The subwoofer just reverberates through the whole house and it's like water torture. Hubby went over a couple of months ago to strike up a friendly relationship and in the process suggest they might want to consider their insufferable noise is beyond the pale. Well he is much more of a diplomat than myself so didn't phrase the noise as being 'insufferable'. I don't want to mess with someone's down time and right to play their music, their games or whatever, I do however now dislike them immensely. I've gone from disliking the music to them, which I know is wrong but it bugs me.

Anyways.. I have the two rooms next to them shut completely off. Our bedroom has a water feature that operates like a white noise. The bass on our own TVs and stereo is UP and God help me I also have noise cancelling head phones :brickwall::brickwall:  For some reason if I make my own noise, psychologically I'm cool with it.

I'm having a similar problem with my neighbors. They have a carport instead of a garage and they have exercise equipment in there. Do they use earphones when they work out? No. They crank up the car radio and listen to rap right outside my bedroom window.

I'm beginning to think that my neck pain is actually a torn muscle at the base of my neck above my shoulder. Kinda makes sense that there would be a bruise there.

I guess muscle relaxants wouldn't do anything for a tear, would they? My mom gave me one last evening and it didn't do anything for me at all.

Living in a tiny house provides absolutely no privacy. If I open a beer in the kitchen, someone (well, the wife) shouts ‘please!’ from upstairs. When the kids have gone to bed and I have a snack, someone (one of the boys) shouts down ‘Daddy what you eating?’
