Things that frustrate us all

On the freeway the other day, I saw the lead-footed driver of a taxi aggressively make his way into the far left to pass everyone, only to immediately go back all the way into the far right because he needed to take the exit that he almost missed. Bad drivers frustrate me, especially when they're both aggressive and clueless about where they're going, and thus very dangerous.

In my country, as I suppose in all civilized countries ambulances with blinking lights (meaning there is a grievous case on board) have a right of way, especially in a traffic jam and people are expected to move right or left to give way. Some assholes use the opportunity to follow these ambulances and therefore get out of the jam very quickly. I saw one do that the other day and also saw him get caught by the police in the distance! He's looking at a huge fine, a removal of his driving license for six months and depending on his past as a driver he could even spend a couple of months in jail.
Sometimes assholes get what they deserve.

RandyS, I have to admit I've never heard of Dan Fogelberg. Just listening to a few of his songs on yt to mend this gap in my education. Not bad at all :)

AuntieHill put up some good ones. Here's one of my most favorites:

My living space is messy, I need to tidy it up but today I don’t feel like it. But I need to do it anyway!

Karma gets you in the end! Rightfully so in this case!

I’m always panicked when the blue flashing lights approach and get out of the way immediately. A couple of times though, on the way in to town, I’ve been stuck, when an approaching ambulance is approaching from the front and all of the cars in front veer left, in to the bus lane, allowing it to pass the standing traffic to the right. But a couple of occasions, another ambulance has been heading down that bus lane, and thanks to timing, no matter what I did, I was blocking an ambulance.

That's unfortunate.

What really pisses me is that in traffic jams people don't leave a lane for police and ambulance. Over here, you're required by law to pull over as far as possible to the side as soon as the traffic starts to jam and to stay there until you come to a complete halt. We call it a rescue lane - not sure what it's properly called in English. It's there to enable ambulance, fire brigade and police to pass as quickly as possible. But only about 1/4 of the drivers do that and the other 3/4 obstruct the road. People have died because of that and the authorities just wag their heads and go tsk-tsk instead of finally taking proper steps and sue all these morons for manslaughter.

"Manslaughter" is maybe a little too much but what they could do is fly over traffic jams with a helicopter and give a fine to anyone who's not parked correctly. I am sure it would be enough of an incentive to behave. People hate to have to pay fines.

It’s the ones that misuse yellow boxes. In the U.K. and probably elsewhere (reminds me I need to spend more time on SkyScaperCity), yellow boxed junctions should only be entered if you can get out of it the other side. Basically a keep clear. So many traffic delays caused by drivers blocking these.

True and in theory the only time you are really allowed to stop in a yellow box junction (in the UK) is if you are turning right and wating for oncoming traffic to clear.

But I can think of lots of other things which can contribute to delays.

Driving below the speed limit, this can cause a queue of cars to form behind the lead car which could make it harder for other cars entering to join from side roads as natural gaps in traffic which might appear due to traffic light sequences close due other drivers driving to the speed limit and catching up with the queue of traffic.

Not being ready to go when your lane of traffic gets the green light at traffic lights. You even get warning with it showing Red and Amber.

Braking for no reason. Yes I can see the speed camera but you are already doing less than the posted speed limit there is no need to slow down even more.

See those slip roads on motorways(if the are clear) they are to be used for accelerating up to motorway speed or decelerating from motorway speed don't slow down on the main carriage way.

Whilst we are on motorways, see that lane on the left (in the UK) that is known as the driving lane all other lanes are known as overtaking lanes, if you aren't overtaking or closing on a vehicle move over.

Please use your indicators when changing lanes or turning.

Yes I know we all make mistakes but that should be the exception rather than the norm. I'm sure many of us have driven behind people who make numerous of the same driving error i.e. failing to indicate. And if your indicators have failed all you need to if you will be turning right shortly is stick your right arm out the window, for turning left stick your right arm out and rotate it in an anti-clockwise manner, as for loss of brake lights once again right arm out and raise it up and down.

Another big inconvenience in a city is people searching for a parking spot... They drive very slowly and at the first sign of someone maybe ready to leave their parking place they stop, causing an increasing number of cars behind them to stop too.

I recently switched from running training to triathlon training, and it’s getting cold so I will be doing lots of indoor biking.

And the only good bike at my work gym is pointed straight at a TV that is always tuned to CNN.

CNN, while it is not biased to any political side but rather to basic reason, is basically E for politicians. Every ten minutes I have the distinct urge to flip off someone on screen.

^ A little anger/frustration might be for getting a good workout. You probably get a better workout even though it might be a bit too aggravating.

.

One of the countries I visit on holiday also have a digital countdown clock counting down for when the lights are going to change from one to the other. I sometimes think that's nice to have, but you just know people would slam on the accelerator when it's down to a couple of seconds before changing from green.

I've never seen one (or rather didn't pay attention) Do you happen to have a pic?
We don't have anything like that. In Germany the rule is: do not enter a crossing (i.e. every crossing) if you can't immediately leave it. Unfortunately, many drivers don't bother following the rules and so crossings get frequently jammed in a way that makes the Gordian knot seem like a simple bow.

Today's argh-moment: I forgot the saucepan with my quinces for only 2 or 3 minutes and they promptly charred. Now I have to start making quincemeat for the third time (attempt #1 began to ferment after I left the fruit purree in the fridge for a week, due to being too ill to cook)

Best I can do is wiki: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Box_junction

Quincemeat?

My father died yesterday. Thank you all for your well-wishes. They may have helped him hold on a bit longer. He almost died on the 22nd which was my mother's birthday, Thanksgiving and the anniversary of when my dad proposed to my mom.

Doctors are sometimes very frustrating.
