Things that frustrate us all

The question is does it really matter in the grand scheme of things?. Is a moment of inconvenience worst than a lifetime of mental illness? People get to move away from him and forget him once he is out of sight and out of mind but he still has the mental illness. If that is what he has then I would say he kind of has the worst deal out of the whole thing. Not that I don't understand getting angry. Of course people going to be pissed when they are insulted. Not only that they will get pissed even if they know he can't help it. I don't think the whole tolerance or turn the other cheek thing means you don't stop getting pissed at people even if you kind of know it's irrational. It's more about putting it perspective and trying not to overact. With this guy I guess It would be more of a bite your tongue type of deal and not make the situation worst. Of course he could also just be a regular jerk since nobody will ever know. At which case though the idea of it not mattering that much once you move away from still applies. Only time real assholes really matter is when they have power over you or they are somehow also a big part of your everyday life. Like family or co-workers etc. Random guy on the street I don't think would count.

There may be varying levels of culpability depending on the person's understanding of social interactions.

The question I asked is in many ways a 'your mileage may vary' kinda question. I know people who feel mental health issues do nothing to remove responsibility from a person (Its a diagnosis, not an excuse) and I know people who think it does. I agree with what you, Kor, seem to be suggesting which seems to be a case-on-case basis depending on the situation/person/illness (we have a bad habit of treating the phrase 'mental health issues' like all mental illnesses are the same (like we do with drugs) - when they are not).

Jayson, I wouldn't discount the affect that abuse from a random guy on the street can have a persons day/mood.

Oh , and on the thread topic - 'Things that frustrate us all', having just mowed the lawn - I'll like to nominate bin bags which collapse when you try to pour the contents of the mower-box into them, tear when you lift them and people who cause large queues at the entrance to the recycling centre because they want that one parking spot next to the container they need to go to, instead of taking any of the ten others available simply because they are lazy and they don't want to walk an extra 30 yards between their car and the disposal container.

There are so many frustrating things that it's impossible to choose just one.
But i will.

In my family we have a song:

Dog poop in the street
Dog poop on your feet (shoes)
Dog poop on your garden gate
Dog poop on your dinner plate.

Dog muck is my biggest pet (no pun intended) hate.

There are some parts of the world with real punitive measures, but not here.

My solution would be simple and cost effective.

All dogs would be registered. Unregistered dogs would be removed from their owner and rehoused at the offenders expense.

DNA samples would be taken from every dump found in a public area. The DNA would be matched with the animal and the owner fined £1000. They will also pay the cost of the DNA test and the costs associated with administrating the service.

I love dogs, they’re amazing, but dog muck spoils our playing fields and beauty spots for everyone.

If we just stopped feeding them smelly, meaty muck and fed them Lynx Africa instead they would stop having such smelly plops. We'd all be rubbing their jobbies in our armpits. Don't know why we insist on feeding them that jellied meat, I know the dog on the tin looks like he likes it, but that dog has an agenda.

We have quite strict measures where I come from. If you're caught with a dog pooping but not scooping, you don't get fined, but you get a pretty unpleasant slap on the wrist.

That thing. When you find a couple of extra rooms in your house, and that the double garage outside is actually on your land but you’d forgotten about it, so you have more space than you could ever need, but then you wake up, and there are no other rooms down that corridor, there isn’t even a corridor, and there are no outbuildings on your land, your house really is as tiny as it ever was, smaller even, and you still need to move.

I hate that.

When the door handle is the same height as your waist and you catch it with a belt loop on your trousers.

Personally as it happens to me, as most handles are at the same height it must be down to a design flaw with the positioning of the handle. ;)

We all have our challenges...

:sigh:

Allergy medicine that seems to make it worse..
:weep:
Ouch, that's a bit counter-productive to put it mildly. Could you get a de-sensitizing therapy that doesn't involve medicine? Getting in contact with tiny amounts of the allergene and then gradually raising the dosis till your body finally realizes that the substance is really completely harmless and no immune reaction required? My sister got that treatment against her hay fever and it's so much better now that she can even go on hiking tours again.

Its pine pollen. Where I live is surrounded by huge pines, and when
the landscapers show up I suffer. What can one do?

:ack:

That's along the lines of being a hospital in patient when they wake you to give a sleeping tablet....
