Things that frustrate us all

life in general.
Same.

Had a wildfire near my house (too close for comfort despite awesome efforts by the emergency services). Then I take two days off to work on a project that didn't require my help and come back to a shit show at work because people can't keep track of receipts. And I have paperwork to complete and appointments to run today.

I am burnt out, frustrated and tired and have to drive 30 minutes at 10 PM tonight, and be up and working again by 7 AM tomorrow.

My face swells up when I'm stressed and I can feel it coming on.

Getting burnt out is bad not just for yourself, but for your family. I've been there, and you stop being your usual self and almost transform into a worse version of yourself.

You got to take a bit of time for yourself. Grab a beer and some wings and watch what you want for a few hours. Or go fishing. Or do a jigsaw puzzle. Play Nintendo. Read a book. Something... anything that takes you out of this world and into your own private mental haven.

Find your personal "Kokomo".

I will try but yeah I am a worse version of myself right now and not looking forward to the weekend.

I was burnt out. Took a vacation and now feel much better. Motivation is still a bit of a problem. But that’s the jet lag. I will be back to normal next week.

Take a vacation.

I’m also binge reading Stephen King right now. For some reason it’s a good distraction. My first Stephen King was Pet Cemetery. We were on a family road trip, and we stopped along the way. My mom told me to pick a book to read. I chose that one because of the cover. I was still in grade school at the time. It was a good escape for that trip.

Doctor Who doesn’t recast. It’s not like we have the same companion played by two different actors.

I know i was being tongue in cheek, Dr Who does recast they just came up with a clever device to enable them to do so.

I don't have an issue really with recasting, sometimes it works out for the best, for fans of the Australian show Neighbours who would people think of when thinking of the character Scott Robinson? I doubt very much its 1st actor who had the role.

I binge watched Riverdale in covid and to be honest, until i read it later it never occured to me they recast Reggie.

I have only watched a couple of the new series of Superman but not particularly bothered about the recast.

I do get some roles just dont seem right to recast, i couldnt get on with Solo because Harrison Ford is Han Solo, it felt like i was watching a film about a different character. And that wasnt really a recast i guess, just a story of a younger version.

One of the nearby McDonald's remodeled and it's completely self-order now. So today I watched as people placed orders with menu items they were out of, and only when the rest of their meal was served were they told the restaurant was out of stuff, forcing them to spend even more time to get a substitute. This happened not once, but twice.

Also, they were constantly forgetting items in everyone's orders -- they left a Big Mac out of mine! And judging by the sticker on the box, they gave me someone else's Big Mac so now that person could've been shorted.

And apparently the drive thru is treated as a higher priority because while I stood there for 20 minutes waiting for my order, a dozen cars that showed up after me got their order and were gone while I was still there.

Dear Housekeeping:

STOP FUCKING WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER. If I want it set at 67, I’ll damn we’ll set it at 67. So leave it alone and shut the fuck up. It’s your job to clean my room, NOT make me broil like a freshly caught trout. Got it?

Wife worked McDonalds, among other places early on in our marriage. Drive through always gets priority.

67 is broiling?

We usually keep our air at 78 in the summer. I don't even want to imagine what it would be like if we tried to set it to 67.

I didn't realize they were doing self-ordering at McDonalds now, they really want to get rid of every service job don't they.
At one point while I was working at Wal-Mart, there was actually talk about them using robots to do all of the stocking, but luckily I don't think they ever moved forward with it.

It's entirely possible those were DoorDashers (DoorDash is the fulfillment company for McDelivery) or people who had ordered ahead on the mobile app.

All the McDonald's we've been to in Miami have self-ordering kiosks. Been that way for a few years now.

Taco Bell has been doing this, and some Burger Kings, too.
