Things that frustrate us all

by molesting it all the time. The more you get on its nerves, the more likely is it that it'll move to a quieter vicinity. But if the problem is just the banging against the window, you could have a look at the tree and find out which twig it is that touches your window. You cut it back and the noise is gone. Win/win for both you and the bird

Banging on the window loud every time I hear it seems to have made it go away. At least it wasn't there this morning.

I've got a bigger issue than a bird now. I found a leaky pipe that seems to be the pipe that runs up to my upstairs bathroom. And it's in a weird compartment behind a sub-human sized panel in my downstairs bathroom.

It's a pretty small leak but it's happening during quarantine, so if I can even get a plumber now, it would probably mean shutting off the water in my house and making a hole in the wall.

I can use my downstairs bathroom for some things but there's no shower down there.

Every year since 2017, when my father died from prostate cancer, I have a PSA screening for it.

EVERY YEAR, my insurance company refuses to pay for it...
Because EVERY YEAR, my doctors’ office codes the damn thing wrong.

Apparently, my plan only covers it if it’s “medically necessary,” and while they DO consider a family history of prostate cancer as qualifying, my office keeps coding it as just a routine screening.

What I don’t get is why I have to keep fixing it EVERY YEAR. Shouldn’t such things as “parent KILLED by this disease” be on a permanent save file somewhere when you populate the data?

Oh, wait, that would be SMART, and this is ‘Murica muh helthkare.

How big is the leak? If it is only tiny, you might be able to close it by fastening a very wide binder around the pipe and over the leak. If it's wider, a pipe clamp (with a bit of rubber or a similarly sealing material under it) might perhaps work.
I advise leaving the panel open to avoid the wall behind the leakage getting moldy.

But frankly, I'd call the plumber. If he cuts the water off for an hour or two it's still better than having a soaked wall or risking the leak to grow under the water pressure and perhaps even for the pipe to tear. He'll be done quickly: he ony must cut out the faulty piece of pipe, insert a few inches of new pipe and seal the seams. My parents had the same prob a few months ago and it took a mere 20 mins to repair.

in the long run,the holes will be the smaller and cheaper evil. Small holes tend to grow quickly and a permanently wet wall is very unhealthy (mould) and can rot if it has a wooden framework or crumble if it's stone. Then you'd need a completely new wall. Plus a new water pipe.

Been getting new furniture recently. Bashed my middle right toe good yesterday moving a bed down five flights of stairs; now I suddenly know why the sith embrace their pain, it can feel good.

I sympathize. I had many smashed and bruised body parts when I used to deliver pianos.

Not to make light of anyone's physical pain and injuries, but that sounds like subject matter for old Looney Tunes cartoons.

Kor
Luckily we never had to hang them out of windows with pulleys or one might have landed in my head and turned me into an accordian.

My pain belongs to the Divine. It is like wind, it is like water. (yes, I'm aware I just outed myself as a DROM fan :D)

Frustrated today because I received the lab results from my endocrinologist. They found no physical cause for my continuing anxiety fits other than the hormonal imbalance that is normal for menopause. It's interesting that some hormones have completely dropped to zero while others still run their normal cycle. I always thought they'd all cease simultaneousely.
Well, It can't be helped: as there is no therapy available in my vocinity within the next 2 years, I shall have to apply for online therapy.

I heard this song several times on the radio this week,
and i was home yesterday and started singing on "what if God was one of us"...

I will never do that again.... i stopped, in shock, after the first sentence.... wtf...
That was horrible.... i absolutely can NOT SING!!!

Sorry that it wasn't what you thought. I hope the online therapy helps.

Considering how much I love singing, it is unfortunate that I am so wretchedly terrible at it! :)

Insomnia.

In the last four days I've gotten maybe thirty minutes sleep. I've tried various sleep aids but nothing has worked. Not only that, but my cerebral palsy induced pain in my muscles has been acting up, and neither the doctor prescribed medicene or over the counter stuff I take for it has worked. This has only gone on for the last two nights, but both together is really starting to irritate the hell out of me.

Sorry^.
I've been having a lot of trouble sleeping for the past week. I'll get an hour or two when I first go to bed and then I'll wake up and never quite get back to sleep. I have trouble turning off my brain.

I had insomnia for years and it really fucks with your life; your emotions, your ability to focus, your immune system, etc. Depression causes insomnia which cause depression...on and on. It sucks HARD and most people don't realize how much. It's gotten a lot better for me now--I'm older, no longer have raging hormones, have cut WAY back on my caffeine intake and have a much more steady schedule, for the most part. @RandyS : I can't imagine how horrible that is--4 days?! Jesus. I hope it resolves itself soon or they check you into a med center.

Thanks. I just turned 50 a few weeks ago so no raging hormones here either (I don't think anyway). I do have chronic depression but I don't think that's it. Despite everything going on with the shutdown, things have been mostly going good for me lately. As far as going into a med center goes, I hope it doesn't come to that. But I am seeing my doctor on thursday for my usual cerebral palsy check up and I plan to bring this up then so we'll see what he says.

On the upside, I've used the time to catch up on some household projects that needed tending to so there's that.
