Things that frustrate us all

Honestly, don't know if this should go in the "Surely Something good happened..." thread or this one.

Apparently, in one of my Windows refreshes, I lost track of a certain email address. I thought I had all of them that matter, but I guess not.

Today I checked into my Shapeways account and found out that I have almost $50 coming to me on Friday (that's the good thing). The bad news is that I've missed all of the sales notices for the last two months and a couple of private message notifications. I honestly thought that since I wasn't getting any notices, yet I'm getting Shapeways emails on a couple of other email accounts, that I was good to go and just wasn't getting any activity.

I was wrong.

Here's to "unexpected money"

When you try to read a thrilling book and you are constantly interrupted.....

When people post request after request and you answer with absolutely no one saying, "Thank you," at the very least and you stop posting (even if you did say you were going to do something else) and get a reply to a thread a year later saying, "Well, a year later and 'X' has not been done."

Yeah, kinda gave up posting on that forum in that thread because there was absolutely zero gratitude shown. Why should I?

So, I just got a call from a crazy person.

I'm at work, my phone extension rings, and after I introduce myself, there's this lady on the line who starts asking why I called her.

Now, I've been here since 8 AM, and I haven't made a call. No one else has access to this phone. I made ONE call yesterday, but that was to a totally different number in a different area code. So very much NOT this lady.

But just to be sure, I ask the lady if she's [person I called yesterday] She says "no." I said "then it doesn't look like I called you."

She suddenly gets REAL angry, shouts "THIS MUST BE A DAMN ROBOCALL THEN" and hangs up.

Lady, YOU called ME.

I really wanna call her back just to fuck with her, but I'm at work, and everybody has called ID nowadays.

It is quite possible that someone made a cold call using your number. We have a lot of those here and to make things worse these morons often use 110 (the emergency police call number). I'm not sure exactly how that technically works. Apparently they send a wrong identification code so that the called person gets a fake number displayed on their phone.
I believe that's what happened to that lady and to you.

Argh-moment today: I have a rather new car at my office and some colleague changed almost every single setting. It took me 30 mins today to find out how to reset everything.
Silver lining: next time I'll be faster (unless I forget again where the reset command is hidden in the rather complicated menu).

Yeah, they don't want people to use phones while driving (rightly so) but then the newer cars have a giant smart phone type device installed in the dash.

People who believe that reading fiction is an intellectual pursuit and make no secret of it.

Well, it can be. But they have to disclose what fiction they are reading before it counts.

If your cat/dog does this thing that every single cat or dog does (Do this every day)

I wish they’d do something about the kinds of obnoxious manipulative clickbait. The kind that makes you scared you’re doing something terribly harmful to your beloved pet is particularly bad. Even if you have the intelligence and skepticism not to believe it, you still emotionally react to reading it for a split second before your skepticism kicks in which is subtly stressful. Almost as bad as those “10 subtle signs of cancer” ones. Wish they’d pass laws against that kind of thing.
