Things in Season One we never heard or saw again...

- Troi calling Riker "Bill." I think she said that only one time.
- Troi's coiled catshit style hairdo in Encounter at Farpoint.
- Everyone referring to Wesley as "The boy" - not sure if that ended in season one or not.

On the Kirk legend thing. I think people would remember the major events. Saving the world how ever many times but no one would remember things like what happened in The Naked Time. It's just like any legendary person. It's like remembering George Washington. Everyone knows him as the father of the USA. No one remembers most of the exact battles he had or the ones he got embarrassed in. But people still remember him for the great man he is. That's the way someone from the 24th century would see Kirk. If they were to talk about the time he saved the world Picard probably has more details without looking.

Back to the thread

Details that were never seen again...

Data smiling like he did regularly in the first couple episodes

The episodes constantly dealing with beings that made it look they were either racist or sexists or both. The writers were probably a combination of those things.

The alien bugs in Conspiracy

Going from memory, when Riker brought up the TOS Enterprise in The Naked Now, Picard was checking out the information and said something like "The Constitution class Enterprise, commanded by a "James T. Kirk." The way he said it sounded like it was the first time he had ever heard of Kirk.

I know, but that seemed more of a thing to make sure the fans heard the Enterprise reference.

Yes, but they should have had Picard say something like "The Constitution class Enterprise, commanded by the legendary James T. Kirk" - as if he was completely familiar with Kirk's adventures.

Talking about headaches...didn't they mention that LaForge always ahd a headache as a result of his VISOR?
That always made me sorry for the guy.
Yes, that’s mentioned briefly in “Encounter at Farpoint,” and as far as I can recall is never mentioned again. I get the feeling it’s something TPTB changed their minds about, like the “freezing” effect of Stargate travel in the pilot episode of SG-1. (Or, for that matter, James R. Kirk in the pilot episode of TOS, but that may have been unintentional.)

Cause and Effect mentioned he had been treated several times for headaches related to his VISOR. I think it's also mentioned somewhere in season 2 with Pulaski.

But if he were legendary, you wouldn't say it, because everyone would know he was anyway. :p

Not necessarily. Remember all the reporters on the Enterprise-B when Kirk was first lost? Can you imagine their headlines?

"Legendary Captain James T. Kirk killed on Enterprise-B's maiden voyage!"

Reporters never change, they would have milked that tragedy for years to come.

If memory serves there was going to be a line about it in the original script for ST:FC to further explain the eye implants but it never made the final draft. Probably for the best, that script sucked.

The table top holograph used for entertianment. Riker is watching a trio (I think) of Classical Greek-style women playing musical instruments.

I don't think it's yet been mentioned but Troi's horrible one-piece uniform with the belt and all the cleavage showing as well as her crazy bunned up hair style. She never looked like that ever again. Thank goodness. Also, in season one she regularly stood with her arms behind her back and legs wider than shoulder length in some weird authoritative pose. I cannot remember another time after the initial season that she stood like that.

Actually, that'd be a terrible headline, it's way too long. They'd probably be something more like "Kirk killed on shakedown cruise" or some such. Or perhaps "Legendary captain dead", but I doubt you'd see it written out like that with legendary attached to the name. It'd be odd.

With regards to Geordi and the VISOR, I seem to recall a mention of the headaches in "The Enemy", as well.

I remember seeing a nitpicker's guide to TNG, noting that they took shots at 20th century Earth five times during Season 1 and not again afterwards.

-Season 1 had this odd amensia about the past. There is a reference to TOS in 'The Naked Now' by Data. One would think that the information he was relaying was hundreds of years old. Like they never heard of the original Enterprise.

Good pick-up. Picard reads the information about Kirk and the Enterprise like they're completely foreign to him.

Picards' overly loud voice of command, pulls that one out of his bag of tricks three or four times in season one, then we never hear it again. Except maybe during Cause And Effect when he order the crew to abandon ship. And during Encounter At Farpoint I don't think Deanna was communicating with Riker telepathically when they meet on the bridge, I believe she either trying to but he can't hear her, or she simply thinking those words to herself.

Lt. Cmdr Troi in the blue and black uniform short skirt and boots.
In the place of alot of the monitors like in the conference room there are painting of things like planets or stars.
The rainbow uniform of Wesley's.
