Things I Will Miss About Disco

I sure won't miss the Adira/Gray stuff either.

I have nothing against the characters when they are alone. Adira gets shit done, and Gray has that ninja vibe going (plus he actually has a JOB now, as a Trill Guardian). But whenever Adira and Gray were together, the action just ground to a halt. They never did anything but stand around and stare longingly at each other.

I will NOT miss that at all.

Although I admit I would have liked them to deal with Gray's loss of his symbiont. They just blew it off, like it was no big deal. Gray was a JOINED Trill - losing your symbiont is kind of a big deal! But Gray never dealt with it at all. I always wondered about that.

They created two really interesting, high-potential characters and had NO IDEA what to actually do with them. They were having a hard enough time giving the established characters meaningful arcs and storylines, it was ill-advised (in my opinion) to add new characters when they couldn't get their current house in order.

Some of the things I will miss:
-Sonequa Martin-Green. She's been a great ambassador for DISCO and Trek overall.
-Burnham & Book romance
-Saru. He's a great character, and the Kelpiens are a cool new stand out species.
-Lorca
-Production values. DISCO is the best looking of the live-action Trek series and looks better than many of the movies.
-Creative design. While I do think some of the alien redesigns went too far, there was a lot when it came to aliens, ships, and costume design on DISCO that looked great.

- Burnham
- Culber
- Book
- Zora
- S1-S3 Starfleet uniforms
- Lorca, before the MU reveal
- Emerald Chain…at least the S3 iteration
- Certain middle deckers (Detmer & Owo, Linus, Nilsson, Reno)
- Nhan
- Attempts to make interesting worlds (Po’s dilithium planet, Pahvo), environments (galaxy post-Burn), and species (Species 10-C)
- The show’s take on the mirror universe
- I wasn’t a fan of the redesign, but I’ll miss the take on the Klingons

Po's planet was an amazing design, I honestly thought those things wrapped around the planet were a defence thing like giant tentacles or something that reach out and smoosh invading ships. I miss Po and her species

Sonequa Martin-Green. She's been a great ambassador for DISCO and Trek overall.

As someone who has gone to the Vegas convention every year, I have a new respect for Martin-Green. The thing I learned the most was that of the cast, she was the leader and had the admiration and respect of everyone else. I don't think the other casts in Trek have had that kind of commodere, so like the character of Michael or not, none of it should be faulted on the actress.

Has anyone ever done a deep dive on the title sequence? I actually like the theme song (Mostly the closing credits) but the images during the title sequence has always left me cold. Instead of focusing on the space aspect, they took props from the show on a white background. I really wish in Seasons 3 and beyond they would have rethought the sequence to something more space oriented.

I don't mind the opening sequence. The closing music is better though. The thing with that though if you watch carefully is that the credits changed as the season progressed and often had little clues about the season they were for.

Didn't it start mostly in Season 3 though? I'm actually thinking about doing a rewatch of the entire series before the final season starts so I might notice it then, but I thought Season 1 and 2 were kinda bland.

i’m sure they were doing it already with the red angel in season 2.

It's the 32nd Century, they should be weird looking.

Oh? You mean there's a REASON that the warp nacelles are no longer attached, or that some of the ships look like manta rays on crank? At the rate they're going, we'll end up seeing ships shaped like coffee cups or giant Pikachus or whatever the hell they can dream up at random.

And that one that's a flying rainforest. What's up with THAT? What's the reason to have a rainforest on a ship? Wouldn't...say...a planet be a better choice? At least a planet can't be destroyed by the Burn. ;)

^ But what's the practical value of having nature on a ship? What can you do there that you can't do on a planetary surface?

Some kind of colony support/evacuation ship? Maybe I can buy that...

Thing is if the thing that keeps the detached nacelles in place fails when at warp that means.

1. The ship is either stranded or destroyed.

2. Whatever life is on the planet/celestial body it eventually collides with are going to meet certain death.

Dumb idea with very little thought put into it.
