I am sure that you have heard of 'slutwalk'

A bunch of poorly dressed women 'reclaiming' the word 'slut'

They have inspired me.

The word 'the' has been used as an article for far too long!

If a bunch of scantily clad and unattractive women can take the word 'slut' for themselves, then I can take the definite article, since I definitely exist (yet to be proven but that is a thread for another time)

I am organising a protest here in Melbourne to celebrate The Pride. We will be marching on Parliament and blocking traffic on Spring St. I daresay thanks to social media and self serving threads like this, we will see TheWalks appearing all over the world. Get behind me brothers and sisters! If you are definite, you are The!

I AM DEFINITE AND I AM PROUD!!

THE PRIDE!!

THE IS SOMETHING THAT IS, NOT SOMETHING THAT IS DONE ONTO SOMETHING ELSE!!

From now on none of you are permitted to use the word The as a definite article. I have reclaimed it, it is mine and mine alone!

Yeah, haven't heard of it, but I think those ladies in the front there are gorgeous.
Also, I completely agree with their idea, and support their cause.

Excuse me!

I won't comment on your questionable taste.

But! I am sure there are other threads discussing the merits or otherwise of Slutwalk.

This is about The Walk

Declare yourself a friend of the or make yourself scarce.

Wait, sex is something you do together?! Why wasn't I told about this?!:wtf:

Well, it's supposed to be together consensually, is what they're getting at. From what I've read, SlutWalk is all about the treatment of women by the police and other authorities in the instances of rape and other forms of sexual assault.

No.

From what I heard, it's because a cop said, "women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized."

The problem with that statement is that it totally disclaims men from their responsibility in sexually victimizing a woman. It is a choice to commit such acts.

(Let me state before I continue that a woman CAN indeed sexually harass or even assault a man or engage in other forms of domestic violence. This is not acceptable either. Such women also make a choice and must be held responsible for it far more than they often are. But for now, I'm going to stick strictly to this situation.)

That said, I don't think that something like Slut Walk helps, because unfortunately when men or women dress like that, our instinct is to start evaluating people by their bodies and in terms of sexual desirability and to pay little attention to anything else. Objectification, in other words.

One term we have as a part of fandom is very interesting, and sheds more light on it--though you see it more in anime: fanservice. I don't want to service someone or give people a mistaken impression that's what I'm there for.

Regardless, of course, of how I or any person dresses, though, no one is excused in taking anything uninvited that is not offered freely to them.

Exactly. It started because of a Toronto cop who, in a rape-prevention seminar at York University, said something along the lines of women who dress like sluts are in greater danger of being raped. This didn't go over well.

I'm not 100% sold on the method, but I totally support the cause. One of them went by while I was sitting and reading in a coffee shop, here.
